    Tiggers for the treble

Leicester coach Pat Howard says they want to end their five-year trophy drought with a treble of domestic, Anglo-Welsh and European titles.

The Tigers have not won a trohpy since 2002 but could move closer to ending that run on Saturday when they face Sale in the EDF Energy Cup semi-final.

"The players believe in themselves, we know it's not going to be easy and we know we've got to turn up," he said.

"There's a little more resolve to this side. I think the treble is realistic." <!- E SF ->

The Tigers are currently three points clear of Gloucester at the top of the Premiership, and face Stade Francais in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup.

Having seen their team win four successive league titles from 1999-2002, Tigers fans have grown hungry since their last success, a Heineken Cup and league double in 2002.

But Howard says the memory of last season, where Leicester were beaten in the last eight of the Heineken Cup, the last four of the Powergen Cup and the final of the Premiership, taught them a lesson.

"The same thing could easily happen to us as happened last year," he said.

"But the way we got through to the European quarter finals after losing the first game showed a lot of character.

"They've got the ability, but that guarantees you nothing - we've got a long, long way to go."<!- E BO ->
