Just back from the Christians-Munchins match and it was a real hard fought match which could have gone either way. The wind was a major factor as both teams played better against the wind, Munchins in the first half and CBC in the second half. Munchins led 3-0 (scrumhalf Conor Murray I think) before CBC centre Parfrey scored (and injured himself in the act of doing so, he went off shortly after).

CBC increased their lead on the stroke of half time through Fullback Odhran Mulrooney, though his penalty needed to hit the upright before going over. It didn't appear to be a good enough lead as the CBC scrum seemed under a fair bit of pressure.

          Half time 8-3

In the second half, Munchins were camped in the CBC 22 but just couldn't make the breakthrough until they scored a try in the corner with about 10 minutes to go. The conversion was missed by Murray. 8-8.

At this point, CBC made a change in the front row, bringing on Aidan Foley who seemed to re-invigorate the CBC pack and they actually took the game to Munchins. Drive after drive, CBC recycled possession until Foley broke through and gained 15m, the ball was passed out the line for Niall Courtney to score in the corner. The conversion was missed, but CBC finished with the win, 13-8.

3 tries in a Munster senior schools game - two at least being scored by backs -is that a record?

And that's what it's all about - nurturing our turnips! Dissappointed for the Saints - we'll have a fantastic team in a year or two - but well done Munchin's

Went to Christians v Munchins yesterday, amazing delay at start, both teams ran onto pitch without a ball between them, start delayed for 6 mins before prettymouldy looking ball produced.

Both teams looked to have verygood backs but game was nearly ruined by constant pick and drive from scrums, lines out and nearly every part of game, surprised that schools rugby is overusing this and not spreading the ball more, which usedto make schools rugby so attractive.

Munchins should feel they had the winning of it but let it slip.

Best player, IMO, was Munchins 11, closely followed by Christians 15.

Went home frozen and a bit disappointed, although I was supporting Christians.
