Leinster A won 43-14 in the Sportsgrounds this afternoon. They'll play Ulster A in the final of the Celtic Cup next weekend.

Glasgow having an awful start to the season. Guess it’s the RWC effect.

Phew 25-21 at the end Glasgow camped on Scarlett’s line, Clancy doing his best for the home side....

Absolutely, three tries from the young hooker making his debut...(see discussion elsewhere!!!)

Conan out for 6 months. Deegan and Doris will get their chance to shine. Doris the Mayo man is a serious prospect at 8 or 6. Just a lovely footballer with the grunt to go with it.

That's really going to stretch Leinster this season. Both Leavy and Conan likely to miss the whole season and always the chance of more injuries in such attritional positions. That's on top of the departures of Murphy and Seanie. They'll need Ruddock and vd Flier to stay fit.

Deegan and Doris will need to step up.

It was ever thus - you lose a guy or two and the rest need to step up. Doris and Deegan certainly have the talent but remains to be seen if they'll make the step up.

Scott Penney should get plenty of chances this year as well

                            CONNACHT: S Fitzgerald, N Adeolokun, K Godwin, P Robb, J Porch; C Fitzgerald, K Marmion; D Buckley, T McCartney, F Bealham; G Thornbury, Q Roux; E Masterson, J Butler (capt), P Boyle. Replacements: D Heffernan, M Burke, D Robertson-McCoy, U Dillane, C Gallagher, C Blade, T Farrell, D Leader.

Connacht team to face Cheetahs. This will give us a better guide to where the South Africans stand. No high altitude and playing a team which hasn’t been too weakened by the RWC.

Well despite clamours to the contrary the Zebre game would suggest that Doris, Deegan and Penny have a distance to go to be in the conversation for Europe, let alone Ireland. And Ross Byrne genuinely did not seem to want to be there. For all the abuse he has been given Tomane was probably the star performer for Leinster

Tomane was good in the first half but was poor in the second before he was hauled off. Deegan was very poor, Penny is inexperienced but at least put in a decent shift in defence. Doris did ok when he came on. Feel sorry for the person who has to compile a highlights package out of that.
