So minimum two years out of the champions cup. And given they are going to lose most, if not all, of their internationals, it could be a long, long time before they get back into the competition..
Could see it killing off the club. They don’t have a huge fan base, or deep roots in their local community, and their brand is tarnished. They’ll lose a lot of revenue when they go down and they were never profitable. Who’d take on that basket case?

It's what the (real) fans want

Probably next year or the year after next they will take some stopping"

Their heads will be all over the place with this. I'd imagine a few have already started talks with other clubs, so I really feel this is a negative for them.

(Of course now they'll put 50 on Racing ....)
This is probably the last meaningful game they'll have all year unless they get a win so I see them pulling it out of the bag.

Agree they don’t have a huge fan base and their brand is tarnished.
But they do have fairly deep roots in the north London/ Hertfordshire rugby community.
Admittedly only as far as rugby is concerned.

Apart from it not actually killing off the club, every thing else is probably right.
London Welsh are now playing in the same division as my club.
Community roots in rugby are strong enough.

They also have a £20m loan from the local council to pay for the new stand development work going on in the Hendon ground. You could see it becoming the sort of community facility that Glasgow play in. The point has been made above, but bears repeating, there will be loyal long term fans and employees who, sure, will have enjoyed the good times, but now see the club they loved destroyed by the high-rolling Wray. The man has a lot to answer for.

There didn't seem to be much work done on the new stand when we were there in December. Easy enough to stop, if they have no cash and are looking at a few years if reduced income (read increased annual losses). The team dressing rooms were a temporary tent. The place is a bit of a kip really.

Wray's ploy of holding off the announcement (I assume it was Sarries request) until after the RWC has really backfired. I wonder was he banking on goodwill when England won the RWC with a backbone of Saracen players. They could have sorted the contracts last summer for this season. Would have made our HEC life a bit easier as well.

I thought I read signs there that said it would be open next season, but agree there didn’t see a huge lot done (although as you say they’ve moved dressing rooms etc), and large areas screened off- it is a crap place to go (but better than Watford).

Wray seemed to have incredible influence- but the worm has really turned and only the odd journo remains on board that ship.

A good day for smaller financed clubs throughout Europe.

                      I'm glad.

For the institution, I'm absolutely delighted. I've never been as f**ked off leaving a game as I was that day in Watford when they played the music. It was symptomatic of a club with no respect, no morals and a willingness to put the values of the game to the sword in order to be successful.

Having met and done a little work with some of their youth development officers, I'm gutted for them as individuals. Further, for all the office, catering and grounds staff, this will be a horrible day.

Not exactly happy, this mess has made a right @rse of English rugby, this puts the game into some serious disrepute over here

Absolutely- it has taken far too long for the other premiership clubs, and English rugby generally, to resist the piratical types like Wray. There has been too big a determination to commercialise and monitise the game, the TV deals, sacrificing audience for cash being a case in point.
