LEINSTER are eagerly pursuing Argentine prop Rodrigo Roncero, along
with Connacht's Stephen Knoop, to give them the kind of front row
impact they need to become heavyweight contenders in Europe.

They also expect to have the 23-year-old Argentine Juan Gomez, who had
a 10-day training spell with them last month, on board for next season.

Coach Michael Cheika said yesterday that Roncero's visit to Donnybrook
last week was no more than a catch-up with his compatriot Felipe
Contepomi. "We're talking to everyone, but he's (Roncero) a good mate
of Fel and he was just over visiting him. He's still contracted to
Stade. We're looking more at Gomez, the young fella, but that would be
a nice combination. Gosh, I'd like that."

Roncero (30), who has 20 caps for the Pumas, is in his third season
with Stade Francais, whom he joined after two years with Gloucester,
and according to Cheika has another two seasons to run in Paris.

Nonetheless, the prospect of Roncero, Gomez and Knoop - who becomes
Ireland qualified in July - is one Leinster will pursue. The potential
departure of the excellent South African Knoop would be another serious
blow to Connacht who have lost outhalf Paul Warwick, to Munster, and
    loosehead Ray Hogan to Bristol.

Hogan leaves at the end of this season and will link up there with
another former Conancht prop, Peter Bracken, who is on his way to the
    Memorial Ground from Wasps.</font>

Dreadful way of tapping up a player. Have Leinster no honour?

I dont give a f**k if we get the guy. He is an awesome prop but I cant
see it happening. SF would want a lot of money and he would want a huge
      wage.

Here's progress Roncero (30), any chance you might find an Irish prop?

It is getting a bit of a disgrace the way, Leinster are bringing in these foreigners in key positions.
Whitaker, Contempomi and now an Argentinan Prop.
I'm all for a few foreigners coming an and bringing through youngsters......but that does not seem to happen at Leinster...

13 foreigners. No wonder we havevery fewirish props and halfbacks coming through. Hopefully the PAG will see sense and stop thesethree new new signings going through.

Hang on a sec. Whits and Contepomi are here for another couple of years by which time Sexton and Willis will be 23 or so and at the right age for Leinster and Ireland. Leinster will be letting 4 or 5 props go at the end of the year and have to replace them some how.

If Leinster had been giving some young AIL props a chance maybe they would be ready to step up rather than C &amp; K's constant foreign spending. Its starting to get reminiscent of London Irish.
