    Trimble v Glasgow

His running in broken play, especially ability to beat several men on a run in tight space showed exactly why he should be playing in midfield. It also showed someone else is going to have to make way for Hickie if he gets back for Ireland.

And whom should we drop for him to play midfield?

therein lies the problem. He is an exceptional talent - but we already have two exceptional talents playing centre.

Is this not a good problem to have?

My mistake I think, I had assumed he meant on the Irish team, but of course Evil Omer probably meant the Ulster team as it was posted in here and I'd forgotten Trimble was stuck on the wing for Ulster, my apologies in that case EO

No Dave i think he meant Ireland.

The thing about Trimble on the wing is that he is a better winger for Ireland than he is for Ulster. This is due to who he has inside him, Maggs and Streinmetz are not BOD and D'Arcy. I say play him at centre for Ulster and let him and Hickie slog it out for the Ireland berth.

Next week Trimble may be back on the wing as McKenzie who was excellent yesterday (reminds me a bit of Ian Dowling) on the left wing isn't registered for Europe.

What about Paddy Wallace tho. He's really stepping up to the mark now!<!-

You can't drop BOD, and D'Arce is playing incredibly. Was incredible last night. Would be absolutely stupid to drop either. Trimble will have to wait for his chance in the centre.

Trimble performs well on the wing for Ireland due to the greatness of the guys inside him. For Ulster he doesn't have that. Play him in the center for Ulster and on the wing for Ireland.<!-

I actually meant for Ulster. I can't see him getting centre berth for Ireland, although we should use him in midfield moves a bit more there. But he's in a different class to what I've seen of any of the guys Ulster are using in the centres.
