Dense fog has forced the postponement of Friday night's Magners
League match between Llanelli Scarlets and Newport Gwent Dragons at
Stradey Park.

</font>

Referee Nigel Owens called the game off after a 1600 GMT pitch inspection.
</font>

Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher said thick fog at the ground meant the posts were not visible from the halfway line.
</font>

"Nigel's view was that it wasn't safe and the weather is certainly not getting any better," said Gallacher.
<!- E SF ->
</font>

"The temperature is dropping and we wanted to call it off as soon as we could so people could change their travel arrangements.
</font>

"We are very, very disappointed. It was a Christmas
fixture we were all looking forward to and unfortunately the fog has
beaten us."
</font>

The match, which was due to be televised on BBC Two
Wales, was the Scarlets' only home fixture over the Christmas period,
and Gallacher said its postponement was a major financial blow.
</font>

He suggested the match could be rescheduled for 24 March
- the date of the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals - where the Scarlets and
Dragons have free weekends.

The Premiership game between Gloucester and Newcastle on Friday night fell victim to the fog less than an hour before kick-off.
</font>

The game was called off at 1900 after conditions worsened at Kingsholm as the day went on.
</font>

But the night's other five games remain on after inspections.
</font>

The pitch for the Worcester v London Irish game will
have a further check at 1900 along with Bath v Sale and Northampton v
Wasps.
<!- E SF ->
</font>

The other Premiership matches, at Harlequins and Leicester, are unaffected.
</font>

The Glasgow and Edinburgh match in the Magners League is still on but fog has claimed the Scarlets v Dragons encounter.

saints vs wasps is going ahead, but hard to tell whats going on in all
that fog.
Glasgow vs edinburgh is the only televised alternative

Hump has scored a try, a penalty and conversion against Bristol, according to BBC website - other try scorer for Leicester is Shane Jennings...

A very entertaining game between two of the many teams who havebeaten the turnips this season.

A second fine try for Glasgow. 24 - 13 to the weegies!

And that's by miles the biggest crowd thatI've ever seen at a Scottish ML game. Well done to all the Rangers fans.

And a third try for the weegies! 34 - 13

A very entertaining game between two of the many teams who
have*beaten the turnips this season.*
Handling in the 1st half was woeful. And as usual one of the twins is
having a 'mare as ref. The non islander glasgow prop will get cited i'd
reckon for the repeated punching of a defenceless edinburgh player in
one ruck in the 1st half.
Edinburgh don't seem to have any imagination and that intercept try is
the end of this game, unless they can wake up fast.
Still easier to watch than the game in franklins gardens.

Bristol deliberately fielded a weak side for the game - would never happen in the Cidona League
