    Age Grade Interpros 16/17

Squads are in middle of selection process for summer squads.
Lot of games internally between squads as well as games as other provinces and touring sides like the 19s played a South African side.

Saw the youths the last day against Connacht. Was a decent game with some good skills ok show. Very disappointing from a player and parents perspective that the Munster lads didn't even get to wear a Munster jersey. They had old south Munster ones while the Connacht lads were all jotted out. It looks terrible in my mind, these players train very hard and their parents sacrifice a lot. Fellas would only love a pic after the game in a decent jersey and maybe even proper kit. They are the future of the province after all.

Poor that they weren't wearing Munster jerseys.
I think the 4 regional jersies should be binned to a large extent and the players should only be wearing old Munster jerseys. Give the players the jersey of their region if they make the final 26/28 but in the actual matches against other provinces/teams and games between themselves the regional squads should be wearing Munster jerseys because as you say they are the future of the province.

IMHO I don't think players should get to wear "current" Munster jerseys until they play U18 for Munster in an Interpro (and most likely get capped). There's also the issue of cost - several development squads (U17 clubs/schools, U18 clubs/schools, U19) would have had one or more games last week and having up to date sets of jerseys for all would be very costly especially given that these development games only generally happen 2 or 3 times a year, i.e during school holidays.

What do they wear then? No provincial team should be wearing a regions jersey in a game against another province or a touring side.
Current Munster jersey no but old munster senior jerseys yes. Why not?
Im not talking about new jerseys. Regions for youths teams at under 17 level wore munster jerseys like training jerseys senior sides would have used and that's what the teams should wear.

They should wear a club jersey from the region imo. A lot of youngsters get to wear the jersey and it ruins their heads and they disappear into obscurity. Most of these underage panels are based on pull, club pull /schools pull. Its very unusual to see players from smaller clubs on these panels unless someone with ties to the club are involved in the set up ! So given that a lot of these players are not there on merit they should not in my opinion wear the jersey.

BetheJay is right U18 inter pros is the 1st time they should wear it and an old set would suffice, after all We are still talking about Juvenile Rugby.

Any of the matches that are played against other regions or Connacht (and they should be playing the other provinces also more often I think) are just screening matches. They would think they've made it when they get a set of gear or wear the jersey.

This doesn't happen for touring sides - a decent Munster set is normally used.

Currently they wear one of 4 or 5 sets that are used for this purpose which are generally region based so the South had theirs, East had theirs etc. but that's changing a bit. They're old sets so perfect for screening matches and being able to tell one side from another which is all that's required.

I don't agree with that. I think club socks&shorts with a munster jersey. They are representing the province and wearing the jersey is right.
Yes very often players from smaller clubs are not on these squads but to put it down to pull is nonsense. The bigger and more successful clubs will generally have more people willing to take players to these training sessions/games and the player from a smaller club is less likely to.
These players are all in the Munster set up and representing the province. Even at this stage of selection process. Wear Munster jersey and not look silly with Munster teams wearing club or regional jerseys against other munster teams or outside teams.

You are assuming players would be thinking like that. Im talking about old training jerseys. Not the new Munster kit that the players who make the final interprovincial squad get. The games are screening games and you do just need to be able to tell one side from another so use two of the old Munster kits be that old yellow/white/black training kits. Each region wears a different kit. Simple. The players are part of the Munster set up. Even if not in the final squad. They should wear Munster jerseys in screening games and the regional development games. Each region wearing a different coloured Munster training jersey and then players continue to wear their club socks/shorts.

10 + club players between those who moved to schools and those still in youths/clubs system which isn't bad.
Should be good tests for them against Nenagh and Sundays Well
