    Ireland U18 v Italy U18 Ashbourne
    3 Union Festival
    1st Apr Ireland U18 Clubs v France U18
    4th Apr England U18 v Ireland U18

Gates for Saturdays clash with Italy open in Ashbourne RFC at 1pm with tickets costing €5 per adult and free entry for children.
The tournament in April is due to be played in Gloucestershire.

The Irish Schools will once again play in the FIRA-AER Under 18 European Championships. Their first game is against Georgia on March 27th and win as they will be expected to they will face the winner of Wales and Italy in the next round. With Munster having won the under 18 schools interpros expect large number of Munster players in the squad for that tournament

Hard to know what kind of squad the under 19s will have and I cant remember off top of my head who theyre scheduled to play but it will be 2 games against 1 or both of England&France

Some of the better munster club players moved to schools after the interpros so maybe the representation would be higher if they hadn't, hard to know.

Schools squad will be interesting, doubt it will be much different to the squad at christmas which had a much higher munster representation than usual. Which isn't surprising since they won the interpros.

Conor Nash is a player to keep an eye on.

Good representation from Navan. 3 players is more than Munster combined.

There is going to be a considerable number of pro/academy players from Navan in the next few years at the rate they're producing good strong underage teams and the numbers they're getting at representative level.

Jack Regan from Birr is son of Daithi Regan ex Offally hurler and sometimes newstalk pundit. He is a big unit for under 18 already. If he has half his fathers guts, aggression and talent he will be a prospect!

He is very highly regarded, along with Conor Nash, they are orobably the strongest candidates from that team to make the Leinster academy in the next few years.

Peter Kelleher would be a certainty for this team if he hadn't have joined CBC.
Several players for Munster clubs joined CBC - Ross O'Neill, Shane Bushe & Liam Coombes so they may have been strong contenders.
Robbie Walsh would have likely made it too but he is injured.

This year's group from Leinster is very strong, a lot of them are on their second run playing u18 interpro rugby and several played for Ireland last year too.

The mismatch between youths at Under 18's and schools at 19's is going to mean this trend will continue. At least the players are staying with the clubs a year longer now and only leaving after under 17 as opposed to after under 16 in the past. I know that repeating the leaving is also accounting for a few as they are finished with youths and it's an opportunity to play another years underage rugby and also get an education possibly for free. A number of people here called this when the age changed.

Mismatch? Well 20s is still underage rugby and do many really get education for free??

                  Irish Youths lost 19-13

I just had a read of the match report and a look at the pictures from the match. The tighthead Ian McCarthy is a big unit!

Any reason for small Munster representation? Do B School players play with their clubs in Munster?

Munster weren't that strong this year. Leinster were very very strong. Quite a few Leinster players were playing their 2nd year at provincial level
Some B school players play with clubs but B schools standard isn't that high overall and wouldn't make that much of a difference
