U20's Club, Munster and All Ireland Cup Fraser McMullen

    Thread on U20's Domestic competitions

Can anyone advise what the Munster U20 qualifying competition is for the Fraser McMullen and how the teams are shaping up this year?

Top 4 in Donal Walsh qualify for Fraser McMullen, top 2 get home advantage. Garryowen on top with UCC in second and shannon 3rd. Top 2 play Donal Walsh cup final. UCC probably favourites as they have a huge panel(over 50) but Garryowen did beat them in Cork a couple of weeks ago.

Don't know why they don't have 2 teams probably just want to win everything.

Donal Walsh final Sunday 3pm in Tralee UCC V Garryowen. Should be a good game one win each in league against each other.

UL Bohs, who topped the plate competition, second division, received a walkover from Con last weekend in a play-off for the Fraser McMullen so I believe they advance.

Great final played yesterday in Donal Walsh trophy UCC just shading it winning 24-22 against Garryowen. The lead exchanged hands a couple of times and either team could have won with UCC getting the rub of the green for the winning try.
Frazer McMullen 1/4 finals next weekend
                Clontarf v UL Bohs
                Dublin University v Shannon
                Garryowen v Lansdowne
                UCC V UCD

Garryowen v Lansdowne was an excellent game. Some very strange refereeing decisions including a very harsh red card in the first half against Garryowen. But 2 intercepted first half tries proved to be their down fall. Did well to bring the game back to 24-24 with less than 5 minutes remaining but Lansdowne got in for a try in the last minute against a tiring Garryowen 14.

I had heard from a Lansdowne supporter that they were lucky to get out with a win. They mentioned the intercept trys.

Great experience for a lot of the Garryowen lads, there is a lot of the starting team underage for 20's again next year. Still a pity to lose the Donal Walsh final last week and Saturdays all ireland 1/4 final to last minute tries.

                          FRASER MCMULLEN FINAL

                          https://www.irishrugby.ie/report_nos...-mcmullen-cup/

                          Trinity 41 - 24 UCC

Trinity hit top form mid way through the 1st half. Scored 3 trys in about 10 mins which effectively ended the contest. Similarly to their win against Clontarf, UCC fought all the way to the end pulling 3 trys back. But at as they trailed 36 - 3 the mountain was too high to climb.
