A friend involved with Old Christians has told me that the Munster Junior committee have agreed to a 16 team division 1 next season with Old Christians and Muskerry coming up from Division 2. They also decided their would be no relegation. Absolutely outrageous decision imo

that just would be worse again. 16 teams as two divisions of 8 is only solution there and then keep that. Fewer teams and then playing home and away is what's needed and then you have more divisions as well.

You could then change challenge cup/shield back to all junior clubs playing originally for the cup and then have shield etc for those knocked out in round 1

Well it looks like they will trial a new system for the new season Division 1 & 2, both have got 16 teams renamed Conference A and B. Each conference has two groups of 8 teams based on a geographical area. You play 7 games and then you are ranked 1 to 8. The top 4 in each group qualify for phase 2 against the other top 4 teams from the other geographical group. So a new Phase 2 mini league to decide league winners and runners up. Your phase 1 results against the other top 4 teams in your phase 1 geographical group are brought forward. In Phase 2 you just play the top 4 teams from that other group to finalise your position. So looks like 11 games in total. hope that is clear, hard to explain

The bottom 4 teams in phase 1 do the exact same as above to decide relegation

For the year after they could have a leagues of 8 teams or run the same system again but they seem to be leaving themselves open to being flexible next year.

Well they definitely have changed the structures for sure. The feedback will be interesting

Looks like the groups for Division 1 will be - Skibbereen, Clonakilty, Mallow, Crosshaven, Bandon, Old Christians, Muskerry & Waterpark and Kilfeacle, Thomond, Newcastlewest, Abberyfeale, Richmond, Clanwilliam, Galbally and St. Senan's.

should give lot more teams things to play for both in qualifying for the top section early in season then avoiding relegation/trying for promotion in addition to AIL cup qualification.

8 team divisions with change back in challenge cup for all junior 1 clubs would be great step forward.

at least they've recognised change is needed as formats been quite similar for a long time and needed a shake up!
