Do they also still have their Trattoria in Fanore ? Was in there during the summer with Wayen and my family. Quite nice, but breaks with the Holywell tradition of veggie pizza and pasta at very good prices. Still their mixed grill there was excellent, and the draught beer was very tasty too. Half size portions for kids no problem too.

Interesting list for Kerry. Maybe it's my poor taste in food but none of the places I regularly go are on the list, mind you most opf those on the list are worth a visit.

    The Cherry Tree in Killaloe

    Chez Hans in Cashel

Car54, I had to take over your post as the list of restaurants was so large, but i got rid of that closed restaurant.

Just a note but rather than just mentioning a name, please complete the following

    Place (e.g. County)

    Name (of Restaurant)

    Cuisine (Type thereof)

    C/M/E (Cheap/Moderate/Expensive)

Recommend (what is the speciality or is particularly good)

    Rate (1 to 5 e.g. 3, 3.5)

And also mention address e.g. Pembroke street, Dublin 2

I'd amend Point's listing on Roly's, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Agree with Point's analysis for Dinner, but for Lunch, same food, M expensive, rating 4 (would be 5 except for how they've messed up on the desserts recently)

was in a restaurant at the weekend near Bally David on the Dingle peninsula, was called O'Gormains. thought it was exceptional, nice setting also great views of the sea and cliffs.. Menu was quite traditional steaks etc, great seafood and good vegetarian options, had to try the Anascaul black pudding fo starters. good food cooked extremely well.

the above would get a 5 rating, but was rather expensive, well worth it though.

    Dublin- Chez Max

Cuisine - French French French. With a bit of French. C

Recommend - basically this is as good as you'll get in rustic French food for half nathin'. I don't know how Max does it except to say that - you can get the dish of the day, big glass of wine and coffee for only €13. Specialities include pork with aligot (cheesy mash), steak, onion tart, great patisserie etc.

    Rate (4 out of 5)

Address - just outside Dublin Castle (beside the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers Society!)
For you stole Trevelyan\'s watch, So the young might see....oh, never mind....

If you had driven on another half mile or maybe even a mile you would have come to an even better one - have tried O'Gormans too. Looks like a bungalow and does B&B also. Can't remember the name from Adam, but the best value, food, ambience combo I have experienced possibly anywhere. Being a seafood lover I didnt try the steaks but there was a bunch of middle aged American women at the next table giving the steaks WOW reviews.

No. Please. Don't even go there.

Was in Limerick last Saturday. I stayed in the Clarion Suites. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. Had food in Dolans that night. Didn't think it was great to be honest. Will this ruffle a few feathers? Watched the All Blacks demolish France there and supped some good French chardonnay.

The Head Chef has gone to work for Richard Corrigan so I expect it might be a bit iffy for a short while.I ate there a few weeks and had a superb meal.

From the above list, I wouldn't really rate Scoozi's or The Speckled Door, in Cork. Their main selling point is location, one in the city centre and cheap, the other with good views out the back. Both give glorified pub grub, imo, that is no better than anywhere else.

The Emmett Hotel, Emmett Square,Clonakilty. Very good, moderately priced, general menu. 4+

Jimmy Edwards, Market Quay, Kinsale. Same as above, less pretentious than other places in Kinsale. 4+

Finin's, Main Street, Midleton. Same as above, wasn't there for a while though. 4+

The Farm Gate, Broderick Street, Midleton. Same as above. 4

Will add some more later on.

That might explain it Car 54. Mind you for a Saturday night it was quiet enough. I had hada few pints whilst watching the Irish match so maybe my taste buds were anaesthetised a bit.

When using Dublin Airport, we normally nip out to Kealy's Roadhouse just down the road for steaks. Good plain grub, decent fillet steaks for €20 or so. Good value, nathin fancy, and since I'm always with various sons, I've never been allowed to try the dessert menu.

What was on Friday night? No criticism meant by my observations. Just wondering...

Anyone have a good recommendation for Galway city centre? Would like something a bit on the nice side, w/o going totally OTT.

For those of you who know Cork, think Rossini's or Les Gourmandises, but not Jacob's or Hayfield Manor.

    Merci!

I was there with Bitter and some others DS, at that time, watched the Ireland game and had food and wine while watching the Blicks game, had the "special of the day" which was beef, and it was excellent I must say. We don't wear name tags, but most of us are known to the senior staff, sorry we missed ya. Next time..

Langford, I watched the Irish match in the Clarion Suites as we didn't have time to go into town due to a late arrival time. I watched it with a few yanks who thought our "quarterback" was excellent. I went to Dolans later and was with mywife and my teenage daughter who was in usual teenage mode and wondered why there wasn't chicken curry etc., on the menu. I had chickendrumsticks with prawns. Maybe I would have been better off with special of the day. It wasn't that bad I suppose but then maybe I'm a fussy boll*x.
