Thing about the Cookies is they hate everyone...even themselves!!
Thing about the Cookies is they hate everyone...even themselves!!
I love all this, the shannon lads hate young munster and likewise in return, the way I saw it, that notion was always bull**** ,more a bit of local rivalry and fun than anything. I love a few pints in young munster wateringholes, and know of many ymunster lads love pints in shannon spots. In facta, only a year or so ago, I introduced some diehard cookies to Charlie Malones ,said 3 had never been. Maybe the younger generation have misinterpreted banter between rivals as genuine dislike
That's cos there are too many cookies pubs in limerick

Munster Squad Tracker 2010/2011
You've hit the nail on the head there buddy. On the field there's no love lost but once that line is crossed some of them (in fact a lot of them) are best mates from school and are generally pally. It how it was back in the day and for most players in the current squads its how it still is
[QUOTE=Dumptruck;1125586]Exactly, it,s a minority of those that have never played (nothing wrong with that) and some that do play ,that take it too far. Garryowen FC, now thats another can of piss
Crescent another shower of ****s !
I love a few pints in Cookie Land as well, especially listening to them droning on about the Bateman Cup , the Star of their hole and Steve Jameson. In fact I smile when I think of Young Munster, of whom we beat many's a game.

And we're only too happy to take your money !
when I visit shanning pubs, I like to listen to them reminisce about the good olde days,Galway, Foley, 99 AIL's in a rows, their bony isle, how Munster would be nothing without them, how we all owe them a debt, how all the shanning leginds were born within the bowls of TP, coonaghs fantastic carpark floodlighting.
yeah, I really enjoy those moments !
Oh Sweet Jesus... reminisce. The Cookies won the Bateman Cup in the 20s? and have been carping on about it since. At least Shannon's heady days are within living memory! And don't get me started about Bohs and their red red Robin.. the only robin thats there nowadays is all the robin of players there doing.![]()
Ah shur, don't worry about it. You won't have to put up with the cookies for much longer, as shanning will be going the way of wanderers etc.
in the same way that Man U fans feel sorry for Liverpool , we cookies feel sorry for yer troubles.
Look on the bright side, at least you won't have to put up with Clancy in the lower divisions .
Haha, what a super comment!!
But on a serious note, no matter what club your affiliated with, me being a cookie for one, hope Shannon or Shanning (which ever is your preference) don't go down the route of wanderers, i feel this season will pass them by but its next season that will be crucial because if they don't bounce back they go the same way we did and struggle to get back up for a good few seasons
31-13 loss at home to dolphin...bottom of the table, 115 points conceded in 3 games, only 23 points scored (13 of them today). Only Sundays Well (116), Sligo (117) and Connemara (136) have conceded more, all these teams in Division 2B. Ballymena (19) are the only team to have scored less in all divisions.
Away to Belvo next week.
Whats going on??? Panic buttons being pressed yet?
On the internet, you can be anything you want. It always amazes me why so many people choose to be stupid.
I'm starting to really panic now ! The situation is now looking critical !

Something big needs to change ASAP for Shannon... not looking good!
Things looking very bleak of Shannon. Where are the '000s of members who joined duing the 4 in a row years? When you couldn't go for a pint in Limerick without hearing the isle or seeing a shannon blazer on the street? Or when most of their panels had 30+ players, but it was preferable to actually playin rugby with a club. Shannon RFC, the original bandwagon.
I hate Shannin, tis good enough for them. marching up the yellow road with the their Munster senior cup to rub our noses in it...
Only joking, Limerick & Munster, rugby need a strong Shannon team, they're part of the fabric of the city and the tradition of rugby in it.
Will be a tough year for them, but no doubt they'll be back. Bastards![]()
Con Artist
Munster need Shannon to make a come back and we're all behind them. IRFU / Leinster would hate the to hear the Isle again.
Lads. stop bitching and pull together !!!!
Could not disagree more
munster need none of the Munster clubs, only their better players
IRFU/Leinster don't want to know and don't care about Shannon RFC.
who is bitching and why should anyone "pull together" for Shannon .
the plain fact is that Shannon RFC thought they were better than everyone else for years and let everyone know it. None of the other clubs in limerick feel sorry for them, as they are rivals, plain and simple.
and remember St. Mary's are the true parish club.
never give a sucker a break and all that.
Keeshan kicks Dolphin to victory against Shannon

Shannon 13 Dolphin 31
Shannon's dismal start to the Ulster Bank League continued when they went down to a superior Dolphin team at Coonagh this afternoon.
Out-half Barry Keeshan was hugely instrumental for the Corkmen once again, accumulating 16 points from the kicking tee and showing his class with ball in hand too.
Dolphin led 14-6 at the interval thanks to a penalty try in the seventh minute and flanker Rob O'Herlihy touched down after 21 minutes.
Shannon had taken an early led through the boot of Rob Guerin, and a superbly-taken try from Connacht's James Loxton put the Limerick giants right back into contention.
The winger made a great break down the left to touch down in the 56th minute, closing the gap to 17-13, but that was as good as it got for Stephen Keogh's youthful side.
Dolphin sewed up their second victory of the campaign - they are now fourth in the Division 1A standings - with a late try from bulldozing prop Christy Condon.
It was a score that had been coming as Shannon had to play with only 13 players for a spell in the second half following two yellow cards for professional fouls.
Dolphin, despite running out comprehensive winners, also had to dig deep in the opening period when they had a player sin-binned for repeatedly roaming offside.
Scorers:
Shannon: Try: James Loxton; Con: Rob Guerin; Pens: Rob Guerin 2
Dolphin: Tries: Penalty try, Rob O'Herlihy, Christy Condon; Cons: Barry Keeshan 2; Pens: Barry Keeshan 3; Drop: Barry Keeshan
Match Report Courtest of Breakingnews.ie.
Tough full on match between 2 "Ordinary" teams....difference was that Dolphin had a good Outhalf who used the conditions and had lots of experience...we kinda put a gloss on it with the 7 points from an intercept try from our 10 yard line...again standard of reffing at these matches leaves a lot to be desired, but he was equally bad to both sides. Have to say that everyone in a Shannon jersey gave 100% yesterday, and upped the game when down to 13 Men.
Think a lot of the "Bottom Feeders" and "Carrion" who leave comments on this thread are doing a major disserrvice to the Clubs that they proport to follow, and have short memories of their own Club's problems. Very short term memories......and show very little Historical knowledge of the Club game....Oh ya......think they may have just discovered Rugby with the Munster Team and the redevelopment of Thomond Park......Bet they dont remember the Timber Stand with the broken Glass at either end!!!!!!! But then again their limited brains may be able to remember back to last season where, the then Champions failed to record a win for nearly half the season.....Bad news for ye Guys......Shannon RFC will not be going away!![]()

There never was a Shannon bandwaggon. The 4 in a row was just another chapter in a fantastic senior history. The Munster Senior Cup years in the late 1970s had as much claim on true greatness as the AIL teams. Shannon players were the beating heart of Al-Ireland rubgy and, in later years, Munster. Watching their current trials is painful for many, unless you're a Cookie and or from certain other Limerick clubs.
"Playing against ROG, your big game plan is to try and pressure him but he’d dump it off to Wally and next thing you’re five metres behind the gain line because he was an absolute freak." Rory Best, Irish Examiner, May 2012
I support Young Munster and take no joy in Shannons current predicament.
Im not having sleepless nights about it but to say( Cookies as you call them) as a whole love it is a bit narrow minded(much like the twats on here gloating)
Nobody who genuinely loves their rugby gloats to see a club like Shannon sink to the level they seem to be now. Hopefully they can pick themselves up and sort things out because its no fun just slagging Garryowen and Bohs
There will be no slagging of Bohs this year
me thinks,if i was to bet id bet on them as AIL champions.
(hope its Young Munster but hard to see past Bohs)
Bohs will be round 5th, with Lansdowne, Tarf, YM and Con.
I wouldn't be suprised to see the shepards hook round Keogh neck after getting nothing from Dolphin match. Poor result! I hear more players have packed it in, noteably Sargent, the outhalf
If young Sargent is gone it is very bad news for Shannon, given his backround. I never had any love for Shannon, but I always had huge respect. A lot of people are very disappointed at the clubs treatment of the Senior Cup this year. Real Shannon people are mortified (most of my cousins are Shannon fanatics). Limerick, Munster and Irish rugby needs a strong successful Shannon. From what I hear the club is in big danger.
