Theres a currie cup match currently on SS4 between Western P and the Griquas. The two strips are almost identical. This is absurd.

Watching Glasgow V Connacht last night was a bit silly also, with both jerseys remarkably alike. Warriors traditional blue and Connachts traditional green strips barely in the designs.
Would urge Adidas and/or Munster rugby to get on board with standard fitting cotton replica jerseys for both Munster home and away/alternate jeresys - would sell loads of them, especially new dark blue one with red detailing. Had one of the new type 'clingly' jerseys for a while but after one or two wears a few years back, found that if you made a day of it, by end of day the special sweat retaining fabric was stinking and clammy. That could of course be my own stink but my brother, who comes down from Dublin area for matches found the same. We both use old type jerseys now but they are begining to fray after years of washing and wear.
...........Haven't I a lot to be bothering me all the same!

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
I think Canterbury should make the CCC a bit larger on their new jerseys. It's nigh on invisible at the moment :P
That supporter's jersey is very nice and I wish to God that Adidas would see the light and do something similar for us (using a proper heavy-weight cotton too, none of this thin crap).
I look back fondly on the days when I could wear a Canterbury jersey all day without looking like soccer fan or sweating like a hot dog in a gay bar. Then, when a new one came out I could also "retire" the old one and wear it to training for another couple of years. That was quality stuff.

For 2013 adidas has stitched a bit of extra pride into the Investec Super Rugby jerseys for the New Zealand teams.
Each team’s jersey will carry the names of the provincial unions that joined forces to form their franchise.
These names will be incorporated into each jersey’s inside collar.
The Chiefs jersey, for instance, carries the names of its unions: Counties Manukau, Waikato, Thames Valley, King Country and Bay of Plenty.
Each team was also able to choose an image to feature on the front of the jersey, to reflect their tribal pride. The Crusaders chose to emphasise their medieval theme, with an icon featuring chainmail and the "sword of success".
The Highlanders decided to do something slightly different, with the words "Pride of the South" running around the collar, and the franchise districts that make up their territory are watermarked onto the front of the jersey: Waitaki, Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes, Dunedin, Clutha, Southland, Gore and Invercargill.
"The teams were keen to add the names of their provincial unions and catchment areas to the jerseys as a tribute to their roots, and to their support base," says AJ Moriarty, adidas Pacific Merchandise Manager - Rugby.
"The jerseys reflect who the teams are, and where they’re from. And when the players run out onto the field, the loyal followers from New Zealand rugby’s heartland will be right there with them."
The jerseys were officially launched today at the Super Rugby 2013 squad announcements.
"We know the players named will wear these jerseys with pride. And the new jerseys carry even more pride than before," says Moriarty.
"As a proud Super Rugby partner, adidas wishes the players every success in the coming season."
Replica Super Rugby jerseys will also carry the new design features.
The design themes the teams have chosen are:
Blues: The unions that make up the Blues franchise are incorporated into the collar of the jersey: Northland, North Harbour and Auckland. The Rangitoto volcano motif is incorporated into the front of the jersey. (Look closely and you’ll see that the volcano is not lying dormant in 2013.)
Chiefs: The unions that make up the Chiefs franchise are incorporated into the collar of the jersey: Counties Manukau, Waikato, Thames Valley, King Country and Bay of Plenty. The koru symbol of the Chiefs - developed with the help of local iwi - is debossed into the front of the jersey.
Hurricanes: The unions that make up the Hurricanes franchise are incorporated into the collar of the jersey: Wellington, Taranaki, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay, East Coast, Poverty Bay, Wanganui, Wairarapa Bush and Horowhenua-Kapiti. The Hurricanes have chosen to retain a bold and simple design for the rest of the jersey, with uninterrupted yellow and black.
Crusaders: The unions that make up the Chiefs franchise are incorporated into the collar of the jersey: Buller, West Coast, Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury, South Canterbury and Tasman. The Crusaders chose to deboss their medieval theme onto the front of the jersey, with chainmail and the "sword of success".
Highlanders: The Highlanders’ collar carries the words "Pride of the South", and the franchise districts within their province are watermarked onto the front of the jersey: Waitaki, Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes, Dunedin, Clutha, Southland, Gore, Invercargill.

? The all blacks don't own the colour black. It's not even really similar at all in design, different brand, and with green ?
I wish they'd stop trying to use their "imagination" - jerseys should be plain or "hooped" or blocked. I'm from the era where gaudiness did not yet exist in rugby (Thanks a mil RL Polo) and where a harlequins jersey was outlandish...
Nothing wrong with plain black and a bit of green just like there was nothing wrong with plain white with a bit of green that similarly had absolutely nothing to do with England.
Less is more.

Black the new white for Irish rugby
CARL O'MALLEY
The Ireland rugby team will wear a new black jersey for the first time at home to South Africa on November 10th – and that is likely to be the last we’ll see of it for at least two years.
The alternative kit is a replacement for the traditional white, and features some slivers of green on an all-black background. Like its predecessor, it will be seen more in the stands than on the pitch.
Ireland will not wear it in the Six Nations or on their summer Tour to America and Canada next year, nor will it be worn against either Fiji or Argentina in this month’s autumn international series.
The Springboks are the only opponent Ireland could face before the 2015 World Cup who would require them to change out of their traditional green garb. Even then, it will only be necessary at home.
In rugby, the travelling team wears its first kit, requiring the hosts to change if necessary.
With New Zealand (all black), Samoa (blue) and Australia (gold) the guests next November, the new kit, released just in time for the Christmas market, will only be dusted off again if and when South Africa arrive the following year.
The kit, with its “high-tech nylon/lycra four-way stretch body material”, was developed by Puma, and is “contemporary and innovative”, according to commercial and marketing director of the IRFU Pádraig Power.
The visit of South Africa, he added, “gives us an opportunity to bring some variety to how we present the Irish rugby brand. Our feedback from supporters has been very positive and we expect it to look really strong on the pitch. We think our supporters will be delighted with it and they will wear it with pride.”
Fans confident or brave enough to want the figure-hugging “match” version will have to pay €90 for the privilege, with the “replica” adult kit retailing at €66 and kids’ jerseys for €45. Whether cash-strapped parents are as enthusiastic about Ireland’s new brand this Christmas remains to be seen, while the reaction from New Zealanders – some of whom were less than impressed when England introduced a black jersey prior to the World Cup the Kiwis hosted last year – may be lukewarm.
New Zealand prime minister John Key described the insubordinates as “wannabes”, adding: “There’s only one team that wears black with pride and that’s the All Blacks.”
4 Feb 2011 - Gilmore on the General Election
"Frankfurts way or Labours way."
28 Feb 2012 - Gilmore on a yes vote for the fiscal treaty
"A vote for economic stability and a vote for economic recovery."
Yes, I remember that from last year when England had a black jersey that slightly more resembled a New Zealand LBJ number. They still don't own the colour even if they think they do. I could actually see them trying to take a case in their Austrian-like arrogance to say that black is theirs and no one else is allowed to wear it. Or perhaps they won't bring this up about Ireland as it is distinct and not "all black". Maybe they realise the rest of the world laughs at them when they have hissy fits. ;-)
Anyone see this yet...?
