I do not know whether to laugh or cry since reading the met.ie weather forecast. I wish for once someone would just say that it is anyones guess what it will be. To summarise...if it is not raining there is a prospect of sun.
...and Mr. Crow comes on for Mr. Magpie.

I said much the same to the missus after last night's weather forecast on RTE.

Jean Byrne effectively forecast that we'd have everything - except blizzards or severe drought - over the next 5 days.

I promptly went online and bought a snowplough on ebay! Six Mister Plow fleeces - in an eye catching shade of Leinster Blue - have also been ordered!

The British water companies ordered a hose pipe ban and it has not stopped raining, when the heat wave arrives next week, will we all have OD to thank?

The weather must be going to settle this weekend as i have just heard that the biggest hay making operation in munster are planning to start cutting on Sunday/Monday(hundreds of acres involved) if you think about you all know who it is. So they must be confident.

Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?
Editor - The writer stands by the Penney information.

    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.

All the farmers Ive talked to are planning their silage cut for this weekend too, once the grass has stood up for them.
Expect machinery noise long into the morning if they get the weather.

Jaysus you'd expect a spacehip to come down through that, like something from War of the Worlds, my buddy Wally was in NYC about 3 weeks ago, was hitting 100 deg F

Used to love watching storms like this when living in the states. Never once seen any aerial lightning in any other part of the world!

Flew to San fran when I was younger and had an incredible lightening show a few mmiles away to the side. Was clear skys in between. Next best was Sorrento. Lightening show over the bay. Wife ordered me and the tripod and camera off the balcony.

Then there was the plane I was on hit by a particularly nasty bolt.

I was in an electric storm in Cardiff once, it was incredible. Lightning all over the sky with multiple strikes all around. We were on western avenue coming from the Newport rd direction and we saw what we thought to be bouncing white pingpong balls on the road ahead. Then suddenly realised it was globules of rain bouncing back off the asphalt. The whole car sunk under the weight of the rain and before we knew it we were windscreen deep in flash flooding.
The auld man was coming down the a470 at the time and as he was confronted with an incredible light show as he came over the brecon beacons.

loud scream in the cabin, a second or two of blindness and the hugh sigh of relief that the plane was still there and it was not a white tunnell we were in proably blew the smell away. think i was coming back from lodon form a rugby match. 2001 final or maybe an england game in twickenham (which i didnt get tickets for but we got hockeyed in anyway. hickey scored a try i think )

The Highveld. The lightning there is something else: like God tearing the sky in half.

I've seen it in Ireland and elsewhere, but nothing close to like in US. (North East coast for me)

You can hear the crackling of the electricity in the lightening when it's just over head Soooo loudly. Then the thunder of the atmosphere smashing back together after having been so violently cleaved will shake the house, rattle the windows and you fear for the safety of the bone china teacups rattling away in the cupboards. Fairly common events too. You're thankful for the trees taller than the houses taking the hits for you. But it is always immediately followed by the sound of the municipal volunteer fire company siren calling the brigade to action. Always. Some poor timber house took one.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Met E are saying it 'could' be as bad as hurricane Charlie. 110km winds and up to 50mm rain on ground already sodden. Wonderful.....
