Munster had another lineout but it was overturned for a penalty after a bit of a scrap on the sideline.

I get this in a way, I mean, "forwards on the wing" sounds a bit like "wingers in the scrum" if you choose to interpret it in black and white terms.

I think if people started to look at it in terms of "forwards securing the wide channels, making the opposition play where they don't want to and searching for ball carrying mismatches" it would create a lot less confusion.
That's the one I remember working (mentioned above..) too; but I'm still not totally convinced he would not have been better doing it up the middle. In any case we scored off that one and it could be crucial later on in the year.

For years Puppy was derided (mainly by the D4.5 lot....) for loitering on the wing; I can even remember Micko scoring a very important try out on the wing (NE corner.....). Oh, and we already do "wingers in the scrum" - I mean joe, do you not think Dougie is already a signed-in member of our b-row...? One of our strongest scrum pushes of the year....! Where have you been all along....

I had nearly the same time in front of the other TV (Istanbul tennis was on d'other....); but I might need training to do the analytical.

    Well done though. Interesting stats.

ryan is inclined to do that.. despite improviing geometrically since getting capped.. not a natural ball handler

While I'm very optimistic about a lot of what I'm seeing this season my main worry is that this run them into submission stuff for 50 odd minutes is fine against inferior or similar opposition when we have possession, but when we're going into half time having been outplayed at the breakdown and were 10 points down I hope we have a suitable tactic to compensate

Oddly enough I'd think he's far better skilled than paulie and doc. The younger forwards seem far better coached in it. Oddly enough buckley had great hands too.

    Very true and overlooked point.
But his bread and butter trade description (TH) was poor.
Whether that was coaching is another question.

Buckley is a very skillful player, he was just too heavy to be lifted as a second row, not fast enough for a back row and that left him as a prop who couldn't scrummage.

Did the Irish prop come on for Zabre..??
if yes, how did he play..?
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Just to be consistent with the Strauss thread, he is American.

yes he came on, little impact.

I thought he was great in the loose, he made at least one turnover and was involved in a few other things as well.

I missed the match on Friday night (I felt it was more in my interest to go for pints with my new employers to see whether I had passed my probation period).

No sign of it yet on the TG4 Player, anyone know when they normally put the matches up there?

P.S. I now have an indefinite contract.

Just watched the first 20 twice. We were twatting them in the scrum. There are about ten, including resets, and Archer goes over the midline every single one.

It is also a diabolically bad reffing performance. Inaccurate and inconsistent.

Ref ruined the game and kept the zebras competitive. I thought Archer completely split Perugini and the hooker and there only defence was illegally standing up, with a good ref Archer would have put perugini in the bin IMHO. Archer being pinged for not binding at one point was ridiculous as perugini was completely detached and pushing on his hip. Archer should be able to make hay against the blues on friday night although they will be better than they were in their pathetic display against Leinster.
