    World Handball at Citywest

    Anyone been to this: http://worldhandball2012.com/

Was thinking of maybe going 2more/Sat. Very little on telly or any media here, and one wonders if it's because of the row going on with the gaa parent body.

Know/knew of a few competing. The great Duxie Walsh into the masters final, his long-time doubles partner (DJ) no longer allowed play. Might be an interesting run-in for the w-end.

My wife's nephew was up there playing 2 weekends in a row,its quite a big deal but has got no coverage. Small bit of coverage about the event in Croke Park but I think that had more to do with the new arena.

Seems it got more airtime in the US than here. This was the biggest sporting event in the country this year and no media coverage.....! 'Minister for sport' didn't even give it a mention when he was in Killarney saving the deer last week.

Great games by all accounts and Brady v. lucky to win the singles. Doubles went to US. We won a bit underage, but struggled to match USA in other ages.

Since talked to one guy who competed and he reckons it's the gaa pulling strings at RTE. There's a serious row going on for a while between the top brass in the gaa and the handballers - all about cash, top brass want 'en out of the corner of CP so thay can demolish the alleys and build a hotel.... It's gone as far as the handballers telling the gaa heads that they're not gaa at all as football wasn't a gaa sport originally (correct seemingly.....)......
