With JJ almost guarnateed to be involved sunday i'd say Luke O Dea to come in on a wing with Bohane going to 12 and Hircock to 13. If Felix is involved as well Richie Mullane from Shannon could get the nod. Is TOD fit? Wasn't involved last week!

Kerry Supporters in For a Treat

Although the squads won't be announced until tomorrow, all the indications are that Kerry supporters of the British & Irish Cup game in Tralee Rugby Club on Saturday (1pm) will see a star studded Munster side.

The return from injury and illness of Johne Murphy and Luke O'Dea respectively and the availability this weekend of Tommy O'Donnell gives Rob Penney further options ahead of Sunday's clash with Edinburgh and if this trio don't feature in his plans then they'll strutting their considerable stuff at O'Dowd Park on Saturday.

Felix Jones made his return to action last week for Ian Costello's side and will probably in the running for a place in the Sunday match day 23 in which case local boy Danny Barnes will be in action at his home club.

Another local lad, JJ Hanrahan will be vying with Scott Deasy for the back-up spot to Ian Keatley in the Heineken Cup squad and one or other could be orchestrating Costello's backline on Saturday.

After an impressive showing in Plymouth a week ago expect to see Alan Cotter, Sean Henry and John Ryan in the front line of the pack. Ryan and Cotter each spent a short stint with London Irish earlier, each experienced Premiership rugby and each held their own in that tough environment.

Cotter went over after Ryan returned and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. "It was brilliant. It really was good to see how things are done at another level. I got game time against Worcester Warriors, Northampton and Bath. They (London Irish) were brilliant. Made me feel very welcome. They've a lot of Islanders and they sorta took me under their wing. Looked out for me."

At 6'2" and 17+ stone Cotter wont take much looking out for on Saturday and along with Ryan and Henry will form a formidable front five along with Ian Nagle and possibly Dave Foley who last weekend was in Paris as cover with the senior squad.

? Thought someone posted that Deasy wasn't in the HEC squad.

Maybe I am blind, but has he mentioned anywhere in the article, against whom Munster are playing..?
(yes it is written in our thread title)...
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

From that article it looks like Jones is on the bench for Barnes, and Murphy and O'Dea won't be included in the HEC squad.

In ringing the changes from the side that accounted for Plymouth Albion in the British & Irish Cup opener, coach Ian Costello has the luxury of being able to call on Munster's most capped player and a host of others with RaboDirect PRO12 experience.

Peter Stringer has nearly 230 Munster caps to his credit and last weekend was in Paris with the senior squad but will bring his considerable experience to a Munster side who will be at short odds to take the points from an Aberavon side beaten narrowly by Rotherham Titans last weekend.Scott Deasy partners Stringer at half back while Luke O'Dea is at full back, local lad Danny Barnes at outside centre and two time try scorer in the Albion game, Corey Hircock on the wing.
All in all it's a pretty potent looking backline and there's no shortage of experience up front in the shape of second rowers Dave Foley and Ian Nagle and a particularly seasoned backrow of Dave O'Callaghan who came off the bench to replace Paul O'Connel in Paris, Barry O'Mahony and Tommy O'Donnell.
Munster: Luke O'Dea; Ronan O'Mahony, Danny Barnes, Cian Bohane, Corey Hircock; Scott Deasy, Peter Stringer; Alan Cotter, Sean Henry capt, John Ryan; Ian Nagle, Dave Foley; Dave O'Callaghan, Barry O'Mahony, Tommy O'Donnell. Replacements: Duncan Casey, Christy Condon, Brian Hayes, Shane Buckley, Cathal Sheridan, Johnny Holland, Ivan Dineen.
B&I Round 2: Munster v Aberavon RFC, Tralee RFC, Saturday October 20th, ko1pm.
There will be cash entry at the gate on Saturday with the following prices: Adults €10, Junior €3, Season and 10 Year Ticket Holders €5 (please show valid season ticket).

MRSC members free of charge (please show membership card).

That indicates that John Ryan and Alan Cotter have swapped over and that Cotter is gone to loosehead. Interesting if that's the case

Strong team!! I would say that team would fancy its chances against a third of the teams in the rabo.

Very interested to see how this 2nd row does. We're gonna struggle for locks in the Rabo when our 3 internationals aren't available so I really hope Nagle and Foley step up.

Brian Hayes is unlucky to be benched, he was very good in Plymouth, strong and does a lot of the selfless stuff.

I would wonder if Dineen is benched as he is just back from injury (may not have 80 minutes in him) or if Bohane is ahead of him now. How did Bowzer do in Plymouth PP?

I thought he looked like a young lad who didn't want to get anything wrong and he didn't which is a credit to him. He looked to free his hands a couple of times in the tackle and defensively i can't remember any major lapses. I am going to try and get to the Aberavon and Rotherham games over here and hope to see his confidence develope. Would say that size wise I would rather see him at 12.

Spoke to mate at work who is from Plymouth and was down to watch, he reckoned our backs were very good, very, very impressed with Hanrahan and Hircock but generally said we had a very good back line whereas they had the advantage in the pack.

Fair enough, they are a big old pack but when Ryan and Cotter were propping, even with Nagle in the bin, the Munster scrum coped. The Albion back three were quite threatening as well, IMHO.

Will be interesting to hear whether Costello decides to switch Ryan and Cotter.

Thanks PP. he used to be a winger with Dolphin i think but since he joined the academy Munster have been trying to convert him into a centre. He's big enough to play there anyway and we are far lighter in the centre than out wide.
Not the oldest or biggest A teem we've ever put out but there's buckets of talent there. If it stays dry we could win handily I'd say. Aberavon seem to be having a tough time of it this season. They are bottom of the welsh league with only 1 win in 7 games.
