I coached Denis at U-20 level. He actually has oodles of top speed pace and he is a very deceptive runner. I think he is playing better and better this year. He is consistently doing the right thing with the ball in hand, and by doing the simple things right time after time he is taking a leaf from Dougie and the ABs playbook on how to play consistently good effective rugby. On top of that he is begining to tear into space when it presents itself & his handling at close quarters is getting better too!!
Well done Denis, keep it up!!

No Munster team should be selected without at least one fella who kicks the ball like a bogger. Head down and bate the arse out of the ball
Dinny is at present vital for this asset he possesses
Gwan Dinny.
I am the million man.
Thats interesting as he does seem to have a lazy looking run but is nearly always there when needed.
There's a poster (may have been a visitor here some time back) over on boards.ie and he clams that oil tankers turn quicker than him.
He's an IBM - an Inter Ballineen-born Missile.
Agree 100%.
His positioning was excellent all game too (I was in the North Terrace and looking straight at him all second half). He's a HEC class fullback and I don't doubt he could do a job at Test level either.
Ballynanty End. This @sshole would NOT stop banging on about how sh!te Keatley and Hurley were. He said loudly during the last phase of play on the Edinburgh scrum for the knock on that "well that's the bonus f*cking gone anyway" and then he was so churlish he didn't even cheer the Varley try. He left going on about how ****e the performance was with his buddy. If I hadn't seen it myself I wouldn't believe a Munster "fan" would actually pay €30 to come in and moan for two hours straight.
It was like watching some of the posters on here in 3D.

Harsh, Ragusa - neither did MOD when he got the try which started the rout against Glaws in the Miracle Match - DOC is being made aware (listen to RP on Off The Ball tonight) what is expected of him - he is trying but I doubt he can do it, skillswise. But RP is respecting his experience and history with Munster and giving him his opportunity to adapt.
While not exactly setting the world on fire, except for poor decisions and skills by ourselves and poor refereeing in Paris, we could easily be equal with Sarries on 9 points. It was in our own hands out there as Metro created precisely shag all themselves.

I thought Hurley had a great game against Edinburgh and should keep the 15 jersey on form.
Watching the game again (first time from that side), the following strikes me:
1) We actually attacked most often straight up the middle in the 12/13 channel. We were coming from deep at pace to do so. The idea were were going wide is wrong.
2) I'd punch all the skin off my knuckles before I tired of punching that pair of commentators.
3) POC was immense on the ground, too. Three perfect jackals for turnovers or penalties.
4) The incompetent twats with mikes attributed them to Dougal. These guys can't do their job.
5) DOC worked his plums off in the tight.
6) Zebo is all class, ditto Kilcoyne and Dougie.
7) Edinburgh flooded numbers around the breakdown and gave it their all in defence. Going one-out or around the corner wasn't on.
8) Bloody hell, Hurley was good. I mean, seriously good.
Vorsprung durch Pfennig.
That's the impression I get too.
I've watched the game twice now and I just don't get where the idea that we played rubbish came from? We were direct most of time, spread it wide when we got the chance and were a knock on or two away from sticking 50 odd points on them.

Joe, this is just on the first half I've watched (twice) thus far, btw.
Vorsprung durch Pfennig.
Looking back on that half the only really disappointing thing was only being 6-0 up going for the oranges. I was disappointed at that half because I wanted some tries in front of me damn it! On the TV view however we were quite decent and Edinburgh, in fairness, defended quite well for the first 40.

I'll say who I think it was: that pair of unspeakable twunts commentating. They kept on repeating it, despite it not being true. They dripped bitterness, talked utter balls - the Scottish numpty claimed a maul 70 minute in was the first all game, despite the evidence of his own bloody eyes - couldn't identify players - they claimed at one stage DOC was Downey, because, you know, all 12s wear lifting grips - and were, all in all, a disgrace. May they die roaring, as I frequently observed listening to them.

DOC was not out on the wing 'minding' himself . . . .Neither is this a McGahan Ploy . . . .and this is most certainly connected with Rob Penny.
Penny has brought a very new and different system to Munster . . . .it is commonly known as the 'Canterbury System' and I have heard it referred to as P.A.C.K also.
The system has at its heart such 'unusual' positioning for a few very good reasons. It will be a regular sight to see the likes of DOC, POM etc out on the wings . . .the big question that is being asked since Penny set about implementing this system is whether the forwards would have the footballing skills needed . . . . . . .such as catching the crossfield kick DOC missed a few games back . . .or POM's pass straight into touch . . .
This system has been a huge learning curve for players, it is very much at odds with what was done at Munster before . .and what it being done at other provinces currently. Leinster's system of General Movement for example.
Its not just the forwards that have had to adapt . . .player movement is such that we are also seeing half backs clearing out rucks in midfield at times.
Good post Corcioch, and if you can check out my post 1087 above, I support what you say. RP very clear in that fascinating OTB radio interview about how he is approaching this team and its methods of playing. IMO he is respecting DOCs history with Munster in allowing him the opportunity, at this stage of his career, to learn new tricks. Whether RP believes that DOC can actually do this is another question. In view of the increasingly precarious position of POC re regular playing availability, the retirement of MOD, and the rate of recent development (esp physically) of Nagle and Foley, he is not going to discount a very tough and experienced 2nd row.

We saw alot more of this last night too, Sherry on the wing catching cross field kicks!
I think DOC has adapted greatly to the new system, the cynical aspect of his game has been greatly reduced and his is looking alive in his movement on the ball, off the ball and supporting carriers.
