we said before the run of games v ospreys leinster and racing that this v Edinburgh was the only season killer...

to say this is a must win is beyond an understatement..

    and we will win...

    Lets be realistic.
On current form are we world beaters at the mo ?
How many world beaters have we ?
Yes in YEARS GONE BY ?
So is Visser correct by saying "we are not the Team we were".

Strongest team we have available and I think we'll win comfortably not sure about the bonus though.
What's confusing me is who is covering 13 if Casey goes off? Whoever it is will leave us with a seriously makeshift back division in what's become a hugely important game

Watched the Wests Awake documentary yesterday and I have to say it really puts all of munsters problems into perspective. I forget how many games connacht had lost in a row ( like 7 or 8) but either ways, munster are certainly not in that situation( hope im not jinxing sorry)

Having watched the munster performance in racing m, im not too worried about the direction the team is going. there were some 3 or 4 mistakes that changed the out come of the game along with some the clear penalty try and POCs knock on over the line. Munster actually could have killed that game off as a contest in the first 30 minutes or so with Racing chacing the game and Munster pulling the strings but it didnt go that way. No big deal. They ll learn from this and move on.

Its good to see hurley back at full back with keatly at fh. In fact, over all i think this looks the strongest team we can field on form so far so im expecting a decent win against edinburgh.

Interview with Bradley in examiner, couple of points he makes

munster are trying to play the same game as Edinburgh but Edinburgh are better at it.
munster usually play 10 man ball up the jumper game.
its good for the Munster fans that they have decided to move on.
edinburgh will go all out for the win, unlike most exams who come to TP
munster can be got at up front, Edinburgh are the team to do it.
he was disappointed they didn't win last week as expectation was high.

above is just a summary but he comes across as delusional to say the least.
he is dismissing their defeat last week as a blip and are going to play the same this week and get the correct result.

You could make he assumption that he is only playing the media stooge, and has no intention of playing an expansive game.
funnily enough his reference to the ulster game last season might hint more at his tactics today.
Ulster went ahead and frustrated Munster at every opportunity by good defence without having to offer anything in attack.
what undermines this tactic is sending out a team who shipped 45 Points the week before and hope that the defence will be A1.

What he did not mention ( deliberately?) was that every time we have met a large pack this season, we have been beaten, and beaten well.

Wouldnt be concerned about the utterances of visiting coaches. It doesnt effect players only supporters and has no relevance to what happens on the pitch.

Not concerned re utterances, but how do you reckon his utterances will have no effect on the game ? I assume his player listen to his utterances

With Munster in transition anything can happen ??

But pound for pound I think Penney is a better Coach than Bradley and eventually the penny (sic) will drop with the players and results will follow which helps confidence no end. It would be nice if the transition phase ended this weekend and the Older/experienced players stepped up to the plate by doing what they know they should be doing especially giving away NO Penalties. Are you reading DOC, Murray and Varley ???? If we did not give away 5 stupid kickable penalties in Paris we had a Win under our belt.

Hanrahan to join pantheon of Currow immortals

Currow is a village just outside Castleisland in Kerry and in terms of extraordinary production in a tiny environment, it would rival the diamond extractions in Kimberley.
Not that there are any jewels in Currow. The fame there, and in a sense their fortune, is sport -- to an phenomenal degree.
Does any village, anywhere, challenge Currow? An insignificant landscape, but take a look at their CV.
There is Moss Keane, Mick Galwey, Mick and Tom Doyle, all residents of Currow in their youth. All are Irish international rugby celebrities, with Keane, Galwey and Mick Doyle also noted Lions performers.
They played locally with Castleisland -- and the chronicler of their weekend activities was Currow native Con Houlihan who, legend has it, played rugby in his bare feet.
And why consult the archives and Currow on this Heineken Cup weekend?

A nice piece....and in a way a nice tribute to Con Houlihan whose book based on his columes in the Evening Press of the 80s-90s, I read on holidays recently. Enjoyable reading for those of a certain vintage. Gwan young Hanrahan.

Heard it too on the radio. I presume if there is any worry then O'Dea will be pulled from today's game as cover

Haven't been onsite all week and as a result a lot of the pessimism has disapated. Reasons to believe a win is forthcoming:
    - Probably stongest team we could put out with the exception of Earls for Lualala. The team picked is correct which is always a good start.
    - PO'C will be closer to match fitness
    - Keatley is at FH and the weather looks as it will be dry (if you are going to play Penneyball, then put in a 10 who can play that way)
    - 0-45 at home is going to put a serious dent in any teams confidence. If Edinburgh drop behind, heads will surely drop
    - Munster team know they left game behind them last week due to serious and needless individual errors. That will provide a hungry and hopefully more pragmatic approach.

    Reasons to worry:
    - Wayne Barnes is no friend of Munster
    - Lack of accuracy at breakdown will open the door for good Edinburgh backrow
    - Low confidence due to 3 losses in a row.

Overall, I think we'll get a good win but we'll maybe come up short on the BP. I hope that Penney rewards the players who play well in this one and not just bring back the CC regardless for the Sarries double header.

Yeah- I am advised now that Doug is fine but Luke has been put on standby just as a precaution. Slight niggle apparently.
