    Super 15 2013

With the Lions on the way down under there'll probably bit an increase in interest watching the Super 15 matches next year. Fixtures got released last week. For those who are interested you can find a full schedule (including kick off times in Ireland) here http://superxv.com/fixtures/

Ardie Savea came out with a class interview after a Wellington Lions ITM Cup game saing how he wants to step out of his big brothers shadow and make a name for himself. Plays 6/7 or 8, has been very strong this year so far!

On the note of Southern Kings, Luke Watson (Controversial ex-springbok) is captain, made a few decent signings, but prematurely announced some recently - http://www.superxv.com/news/super15_...s.asp?id=36652

Chiefs have strengthened there depth at 10 with bringing in Gareth Anscombe, dunno why the blues let him go!! is better than the recently signed Chris Noakes! http://www.superxv.com/news/super15_...s.asp?id=36700

And Big Brad is back in Super Rugby with the Highlanders -http://www.superxv.com/news/super15_...s.asp?id=36701

All Black winger Zac Guilford has stepped down from this years Crusaders side after another drunken incident recently. Huge blow for them that he's still have these issues and after Maitland left for Scotland it seems that they could be stretched thin on the wing

Cory Jane out for the season with a ruptured ACL (Hurricanes)
Cooper Vuna to miss 6weeks with shoulder injury (Rebels)
Berndan Leonard out for 4 - 6 fractured cheekbone (Chiefs)

    Returns on the 15th Feb

James Horwill injured..............AGAIN, withdrew from preseason fixture for Reds. Ankle this time, unsure of seriousness of injury but with his luck could be another lengthy stint!

Other news says that Zac Guilford would and could be welcomed back into the Crusaders set up during the season should he over come his alcohol issues

Horwill's injury not expected to keep him out for long but we're not sure. Very unlucky. Happened in a tackling drill today! It does however give Ed O'Donoghue (ex-Ulster/Leinster) a chance to stake a claim. The Reds haven't used their one import spot in S14 for a few years now so it's open for O'Donoghue should they use him. Horwill and Simmons both injured so he'll get a chance to impress in the trial match this week. He's been playing/training with the Academy the last few months.

Wasps didn't renew his contract so he decided to come back to Brisbane. Started training with the academy then and now with injuries appears to be getting one last chance to stake a claim for a S14 squad place. Really hope it goes well for him.

The Russian international(!!) went to Rebels last season, got done for eye gouging, won his appeal but has been let go by Rebels for this season from what I understand.

Would they have room in the budget after signing Izzy Folau? Was thinking the Brumbies myself if was to go anywhere, they'd surely have space in their budget in comparison

Tahs still have one open spot in their roster (not sure if Brumbies do). Budgets are always changeable!!

He's a Sydney man too which might sway it Tahs way. Definitely be one of them two teams though

Whats the general reaction and perception of Folau at the Tahs, i know he scored twice on debut in friendly. Much expected?

He's doing alright. He's an unreal athlete in fairness to him. Still very wet behind the ears with the rules etc but no doubting he has raw talent. In the long run I can't see how it will benefit rugby in Australia though. I feel his heart in still in NRL and he'll be gone back after the year.

No way!! Be serious competition between himself and Phibbs in that case! Winner to be Genia's Oz back up, unless phibbs moves on at end of the yr.

Richard Kahui heading to Japan after S15 season from the Chiefs.

Thinking that this season may be tighter than previous. Playoff spaces will be hugely competitive. Oz conference can go to anyone (except the force!), if was to pick a winner i'd say the Brumbies.

NZ conference is just as open with most Franchises strengthening, blues being the weakest this yr, Highlanders look to be stacked, chiefs will be dealing without SBW so interested to see them, think the Canes can really stake a claim if last yrs signs are anything to go by. Gonna go for the Highlanders to top the division

SA think will go to the Stormers with Sharks and Bulls close behind and the Kings holding up the table without a win.

Stormers to win it out overall

SS4 showing the Rebels vs Force tomorrow morning at 8.40

    Rebels won 30-23 i think.....

I see force start with 6 away games from 7....and finish with a flurry of home games.....5 in a row i think...who thinks up these schedules???

Home fans won't see a game for months and have to fork out for a run of games at home.

I.understand the nature of playing a few games in SA or NZ in. a row ...tour there....but give a few home games before u go.

    Not very joined up thinking.

Rebels were very poor to start. Force dominated possession and were good value for their lead at halftime. Rebels got their act together and started to build phases and score a few chances. JOC was good, Delve was strong for rebels. Beale and Higginbottom were Cat! Pyle for Rebels was very strong. Force had a 20yr old playing 12 and kicking, didn't seem like the best goalkicker but was brilliant with ball in hand, was MOTM for me

Good call (he's called Godwin). I thought that the ref was poor enough. The late yellow for Alby Matheson seemed ridiculous.
