Never mind perception because it isn’t real. It’s only what people think. Go out and make them think something else.

    Chippy!!! What a site?!

Cat is a fantastic mysterious pet. Radically different from the dog. We have a lot to learn and discover about it. And the relationship to us is changing completely. But it's quiet right, if people do not care about a cat population, castrating the adults ("WTF do I have to castrate and vaccinate my cat, it will end under the wheels of a car on the street anyway?!!" was what I heard at the beginning of my career..) as it was 10-15 years ago where I am leaving, we have to face any day to an overpopulation of ultimate predators. But things change, they even can change in the right way, and nowadays, cat owners are "real" pet owners who love their cat, and the relationship can aven by quiet intimate. Cats are less and less those "independant garden pets" who have theit own life nearby people, when dogs are considered most of all as "house pets" that live with us.
Its why my family and me are doomed: Everywhere we go, our cat goes... So I will have to find a solution when I will come to Ireland. I am afraid it's not so simple as having holidays in Germany for exemple, where we rent an appartment in a farm. I do not know the solutions I can find in Ireland, but anyway, hotels are now "forbidden zones" for us.
The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa). Sellar and Yeatman

In the NE USA rabbit infestation of residential neighborhoods are common where there aren't enough cats. Cats love baby bunnies. I even saw a cat walking backwards dragging a full grown rabbit home once. For some reason they eat everything from the hips up of grey squirrels but leave the hind quarters in tact for the doormat trophy.

Likewise, in a China town. - Always choose the food vendor with the cats patrolling the aisles. Much safer!

The dogs may prevent our heating oil from being stollen and alert us to night time prowlers, but the cats are the ones that cull the wee timerous cower beasites and keep the garage rodent poo free.

Our cats live in the garage with the window always open to come and go. They will sit on the sofa of an evening with the dogs on the floor in front of the fire. But when it comes to trips away. The dogs have to be put in the kennel and the cats are negotiated in at not much more . But if it were just the cats you could go away for weeks on end if you had someone that was willing to top up the food and water for you once a day. Easy peasy. We don't do litter boxes! They are for house training kittens and should be gone before the cats are half sized!

Thx, 16, but concerning our cat, I forgot all the advices I give to my clients. "She" is the queen of the house, the ruler of the family. We live in the center of our little town, and do not have any garden. It means she is a typical appartment cat, never going outdoors. And the interdependance between her and us is.. let say... anyelse as normal. She is unable to stay more than a few hours without us, and we are unable to go anywhere without her. As I say to my clients, "Do what I say, never what I do..."
It means that we won't never be able to spend holidays anywhere without the cat. So we will never let her at home when we spend holidays in France or abroad. That's why I have to find any solution because when we will go to Ireland and Scotland, she will too.
    Limit pathological, I conceed it...

This lot allow the dogs and I am not sure why they would not allow a cat if you rang them. http://www.thedunloe.com/dog-friendly

I think more accurately we should be asking how often he gets fed a full baby.

It's not practical, the cleanup would be a nightmare too!
