He'll be pushing Healy within 12 months if he keeps improving. I see no reason to bring Du Preez back in, doesn't offer as much as Kilcoyne.

I agree, will help enormously with the NIQ quota aswell for next year. Only lacking a decent home grown 12 & 3 now.

Very impressed with him today, first time seeing him play in the flesh, great in the loose, solid in the scrum, what more can you ask?

Downey will do at 12 until a decision is made about JJ, who looks as though he is being edged towards the 12 jersey at the moment, or the likes of Dineen or Bohane make the step up. Archer needs to put in some serious shifts over the next six weeks and time must be given to Ryan, Cotter and Condon to see whether they can make the step up like Killer has.

Wonder why Archer did not get even a few minutes today

    Dave "Killer" Kilcoyne

Is Kilcoyne Darren Garforth's lovechild? Certainly looks the part & if he turns out to be as good for Munster as Garforth was for Leicester we have a true winner

Couldn't risk it I suppose as the Embra 1 caused BJB problems enough; at least BJB can be wrapped up in cotton wool for a month now. Archer will have to start against the zebras, but have to say I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of John Ryan and Cotter over the next three games.

Yeah, haven't seen anything that would indicate Archer is up to HEC level. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit of Ryan in the 3 jersey for a few Rabo games.

Hopefully Ryan or Cotter will get proper game time. We'd be in a far healthier position regarding our home grown props if Ryan or Cotter were given a third of the investment Archer has received. That we've managed to turn Archer into a serviceable Rabo standard prop is commendable, but we've been backing the wrong horse for a couple of seasons now.

The problem is Archer has improved in the last 3 years but we still can't be sure his top level isn't just about bench level at HEC. I think we know he's unlikely to ever make it as a full international but it's also easy to forget that he's 24, he came through very early, so he's actually still a bit off his best years.

Kilcoyne, btw, was superb today. Definite highlight was the one on the Cratloe 22, East side, where their TH dived, and Kilcoyne popped it back up.

I hope Kidney does not take note. We need him.

Munster has given more than enough to the Irish cause. It will do our players much more good to bed down first at HEC level. In any event the top two provinces should be providing the meat of the team this season. And we want feck all with the Lions as well - the last tour jinxed us for 3 years.

Looks an excellent ball carrier and scrummager.

He offers far more than WDP going by current form.

Tom Court's days of being in the Ireland match day squad are numbered.
"That's what's difficult. You know that O'Connell is going to be the one that will jump for the ball but you still don't manage to steal it. It's kind of annoying

"I talked about it with the Toulouse players, my final in 2006 and theirs in 2008 against Munster. I was marking Paul O'Connell and they were man-marking him too. We knew he was going to jump. But I remember I was in really good condition, with a good lift, but every time I just missed it."

BTW, something I noticed yesterday: we have a guy videoing each scrum from the opposite side to the main cameras. I don't remember that before. Is it new? Anyone know?

Shhh leave Kilcoyne alone for a while where he is.

Nah, unless kilcoyne starts, he won't make the squad. Court covers TH also (allegedly)

I wouldn't worry about losing Killer to Ireland for a while yet. It will take Kidney at least 2 more seasons to realise Court actually can't cover both sides and that Killer is a better loosehead anyway...

I doubt it, Kidney discussed Kilcoyne as one for the future before the summer tour.

He had a good day at the office. His scrummaging will only get better, looked busy and wanted to get on the ball, great to see.

There was a guy doing the same thing against Newport at the Rabo game earlier in the season.
