    From Gaillimh's OP:
Positions: This provides a graphical view of how all player ratings in a specific position have fluctuated over the course of a season. Currently there isn't enough data available to have meaningful information here, so it currently generates random graph data. Once we are three matches into the season, this will switch to 'live' data.

Something else that needs to be addressed it the below.

We'll borrow the Green and Gold Rugby (http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/wal...layer-ratings/) rating descriptions for now until we develop our own, more colloquial version:

10 – A legendary performance to go down in the history books
9 – Outstanding performance: Man of the match shoo-in
    8 – Excellent all-round game
7 – Good game with a few sparkles
    6 – Solid performance
    5 – Average – ho hum
    4 – Below par
    3 – Had a bad game
2 – Tell your story walking pal
    1 – A complete joke

    Any suggestions?

Can you tweak the player of the match selection. I think most people will just select a player and not a position (number) plus player?

The wrong players against the wrong numbers again for the ulster match ..
Denis hurley is apparently now a prop ?!

Can we have a field to track cards picked up as well ? I was nearly going to put 1 in the penalty box for Dougall for the yellow card he collected but then I remembered the penalty field is for penalties scored rather than conceeded.

this may be something for next season but if it could be done, could we have a score for the teams overall performance and the opposition performance? would be interesting to compare to see if certain players games are better/worse when the team plays well or the opposition are good/poor?

  15. #42
idea is great but whole thing is confusing?

Assume all us 'fans' do is put in our ratings, then why the option for Tries, penalties etc

The Pick a player rating. No need for trying to match up[ number with name.

the front page list is by team numbers, should logically be the top rated? no?

Some lists are off the page, literally.

No submit button? So you know when you're done

Obviously someone has to input all the data for each match, but most of us want to put in scores/ratings pretty quick after the game. It was a least a day after the Ulster game before names were updated. Really needs to be done before game, the team (& subs). JOb for someone i know, but if you want it to work...

Hey guys when ye were entering player ratings did anyone get a message that flashed up user id cannot be null. Every time I try to enter a rating I keep getting that message and the player ratings are blank for me when I go back. Just wondering if anyone else is encountering the same issue.

Were you logged into MF when you tried to enter the ratings?

I am also having that problem. And Billy Holland seems to have played loose-head prop in the Ulster match unbeknownst to myself.

    The error is SQLSTATE=23000.

    Hi guys,

Back from holidays and read through the comments here, and think I have addressed all of the issues highlighted. If you are still having problems of any kind, please let me know. Other points:

    1) If you would like to volunteer to help keep the stats up to date and the team list correct, please PM me.
    2) The graphs now use 'live' data from our ratings from the first three matches. Most interesting thing I saw in it was the upward rise of Ian Keatley
    3) Permissions are changed so the number of people who can change the team selection is now restricted. Again, PM me if you want to help out here.
    4) I've done my best to repair the data for the first few matches, but interestingly, there are disparities between different match reports. Let me know if something is still incorrect.
    5) The 'idea' with the first tab is to show our top rated first 15, if you want to sort the list of players by rating, go to 'Players', and click on the rating column header.
    Believe.

Hi Gaillimh, I'm trying to put in ratings for last night's game, but after each one I'm getting a message box saying "fixture update error: error". Dunno if this is affecting anything or not.

Same here-and I'm getting a page with fans ratings n/a down one column.
Edit: Ok I see, maybe not enough data yet. You have got rid of the experts column too?

Thanks Gaillimh. This will be a very interesting addition to the site. What do you think of putting up yc/rc against each player as well?

Sorry! I fixed that, was pretty tired by the time I finished up that stuff...it should now be possible to enter ratings again.

Yes, I removed the experts column, we can add it again if we decide we need or want it, but the majority of experts didn't log any ratings for most matches so far, so if that's the case, it's better to hide it for now.

Forward...: yeah, I'll add red and yellow cards.

I've updated the 'front page' of the player ratings to fix the way the statistics were calculated and to add a bit more information on what the information being shown represents. I was thinking it might be 'cool' to show the player who is 'second' for each position to indicate what, if any, strength in depth we have in those positions. Is this a good idea? Any ideas on how to show it without cluttering up the page?

I also put in the 'Replacements' in an attempt to identify any super subs (Conor Murray stands out so far) - is this useful?

    Thanks again for your input.
    Believe.

very good idea but Varley has started 3 games not 1..... actually he is down as first and second, probably meant to say sherry on the replacements as that varley has only one start

  35. #58
most fo the games have disappeared off the rating page

Varley's one selection at '16' gave him a higher rating than the average of Mike Sherry's starts at 16, which is why he is in twice. The same holds true for Keatley who is in as our best out half as well as our best full back.

I also cleaned up the number of matches shown in the 'Rate Players' tab so that matches from more than two weeks ago aren't shown anymore (I doubt anyone would be able to give a meaningful rating that long after the match), also, no point in showing matches from far in the future either.
    Believe.

Kept getting Error message each time in put in a rating for the first few, by the time Niall Ronan came along it ask me to click in the box to stop this reoccuring.

Would like to see the time played when giving ratings as would nornally give no more than 5 for anyone on less than 10 mins

Also submit button? How do we know our ratings are submitted? Just opened new tab on and ratings are clear.

    Otherwise looks much better.
