Limerick Charity Cup:
Young Munster 36, Old Crescent 21.
CRESCENT went into tonight's tie at Tom Clifford Park as underdogs but there was only four points between the sides at the break with Young Munster leading 10-6.
It was 22-16 to the black and ambers with 15 minutes remaining but the homesters stepped on the gas to finish in style.
Young Munster were awarded a penalty try with Darren Gallagher and Dara Cantillon also touching down. Declan Bannon popped over a drop goal with the rest of the points coming from the boot of Willie Staunton.
New Old Crescent coach Gerry Casey was pleased with his side's performance and they had tries from Brian Keane and Sean Monaghan. Shane Mullally contributed a personal tally of 11 points and if this display in an accurate indicator, we can expect Crescent to hold their own when division two A of the AIL gets underway.
Shannon take on Thomond in the Limerick Charity Cup on Saturday next in Coonagh, kick-off 2.30pm.
Wasn't at it myself, but spoke to some people who were, Staunton was top drawer, Crescent held their own with Sean Monaghan looking real good. Think Crescent gave away 22 points in penalties.

On the internet, you can be anything you want. It always amazes me why so many people choose to be stupid.
What kind of game was it? Scoreline suggest YM were poor, would have expected the margin a lot wider. Any stand out players?
Anyone have any results from the Charity cups games today???
Garryowen beat Nenagh 24-10. Great performance by Nenagh. score at end by G'owen put gloss on scoreline
Bohs 17 Bruff 6
Thanks for that lads.
Highfield 20 Sundays Well 0
Cork Constitution 21 Dolphin 31
Good win for dolphin. What were the Con and dolphin teams like? Many new faces? Many left??
Didn't Garryowen play most of their under 20's? I think Lorcan Burke was the only one of the backline not under 20's?

Charity Cup Semi-Final: YOUNG MUNSTER V GARRYOWEN Friday Aug 31st 6.45PM Tom Clifford Park (extra time if required)

I agree with you on that. as i said in previous post we had a few u21s and 3 of them are still underage for 19s playing(2 started and 1 came on as sub
shame we(munster) couldnt do more for clubs preparing for AIL.
Some clubs in the province may only play 2 competitive games before the AIL starts, if they lose their 1st game in both the charity cup and senior cup while the clubs in leinster/ulster get 4/5 games in ulster senior league/leinster league cup
maybe the senior cup should be pushed back towards the end of season and the format of charity cups changed to a league basis
Maybe the Charity Cup teams should agree to have a certain amount of 21's playing. I think most clubs agree between themselves prior to the games what type of side they are going to put out.

Majority of clubs are looking to build their 1st 15 for AIL, as mentioned above regarding restructuring that i'd agree with in introducing a league basis competition, should a team lose there 1st game in CC and SC than they have means to blend there 1st 15 for AIL, think its a great competition for blooding youth but can also see the point of focusing on strongest team instead of blooding 21s.
Isn't the leinster league cup winners the team that goes through in Bateman cup semi's? if so why don't the munster branch look at restructuring the senior cup into north/south division like in 21s where cork teams play cork teams and top 2/4 go into quarters/semis. more game time to benefit everyone
Expecting strong teams for Friday nights fixtures, BOM, Hircock, Ger Sla and Alan Cotter all to feature
Johne Murphy playing 13 for YM tonight, Munster players not involved against Edinburgh are released for club fixtures, be a few on show tonight in Greenfields
over rated player watched him against shannon very poor luke o dea ran around him like he wasnt even there
He also ran around Luke O Dea as if he was a prop! Does that mean he's over-rated? The guy was at the top, starting week in and out for Leicster tigers!!
that is some fall from grace it is after really hitting rock bottom now isnt he
Highfield have signed a new OH - ex-Blackrock/Garda apparently - looks handy, and has a good boot. They'll need him if they are to stay up this year.
It was a first run-out for both teams. The Well looked poor enough TBH - Highfield gave away a lot of penalties and had at least one YC - yet they still won comfortably.
Trust is good; control is better. V I Lenin.
Bit insulting towards club rugby!!
16-9 to young munster in middle 2nd half
Johne murphy went off injured in 1st half
Hurt his ankle again. Finished 26 17, decent game. G'owen brought Conan Doyle, Sean Scanlon and JP Cooney on at halftime and seemed to galvanize YM who scored early on in 2nd half. Good result, another final for YM, progress but plenty room for improvement. Scores were Pat Fitzgerald and Tom Goggin for YM with Willie Staunton kicking 16points.
Seems Staunton is dublin bound, rumour around the ground is he's join 2A side Terenure
