    Clermont

I've had a good look and can't seem to find any info on trips to Clermont so apologies for opening a new thread.

If anyone can find the old ones, that would be great, otherwise I'm looking for a bit of info for a friend of mine.

He's looking at heading there for the Scarlets game in October and trying to work out the easiest way to get there / hotels / best area to stay and also any ideas of good places to go whilst there.

All suggestions gratefully received - diolch!

There should be a decent guide over on http://forum.leinsterfans.com/index.php with all the times we've met them recently.

Great trip, love Clermont - plus think Scarlets/ASM have a few connections (player-wise) so should be good

Always flew to Bourgoin/Grenoble (between Lyons and Grenoble) with one of the budgets, then hired a car and drove over.
The cathedral square on top of the hill has a few bars, where supporters congregate (plus it has a christmas fair (dependant on fixture dates !) - I usually eat at Le Caveau (for meat eaters only) on the opposite side of the cathedral from the square but its probably a bit of a personal choice (owner loves ASM).

Sites wise - you've got Le Puy de Dome (cycling icon (don't get me started)), the Auvergne (beautiful) and I have in the past driven back via Le Puy en Velay (beautiful town, with stinky cheese)

one of my favourite away trips - hope he enjoys

    Diolch joconnell & Plastic!

Sounds like a great spot alright for a weekend away - though not too jealous since I'll be in Paris and would 100% prefer to be watching Munster rather than the Scarlets!

Agree with La Caveau, only restaurant to keep, blokes fed....
We stayed at the suites hotel now called Novotel suites, good and on the tram to town and stadium,
We drove it from London, not as long at it seems,
Great town, great stadium and real rugby people,
Offside Ref! He's being doing it all day
