Jutge takes over as referees' boss

Apologies if already posted. Joel Jutge is succeeding Paddy O'Brien as the IRB High Performance Match Official Manager. More here.

Always liked Jutge. Good, solid referee, also gave birth to the immortal, "eez a rack!"

Hopefully he might be able to pass on a few of the rules to M Poite and M Berdos.

Berdos is not that bad IMO but Poite needs intensive work.

I just find Berdos wildly inconsistent tbh. What he pings all day about in one game he'll not bother about in the next.

This is good. Jutge understands the game, hopefully he can move the refereeing toward the NH style a bit more.

Promote Garces, maybe Lacey and anyone else who shows a bit of talent, make it clear to certain referees that poor or inept performances won't be countenanced.

I always liked Joel so happy for him cannot be worse than Paddy. Re Poite I think he should give it a break for six months then give it up altogher.

Is "intensive work" a euphemism Mcork?

Good to see that politics is alive and well - Lapasset -> Jutge....

Still, it works well, by accident, if not by design - Jutge was a very good ref.

Would like to have seen Dave McHugh in there, or even Alan Lewis (even though he is not involved in ref management now). Won't complain re Jutge though, and as others have said, he might even teach Poite a few basics!

Just glad to see O'Brien **** off into the sunset, should have had the decency to resign several years back after some of the stuff he got up to.

Young referee retired because a knee injury.

He was the most partial to Serge and Biarritz Olympique.
He used to ref them and they rarely lost with him.
Since he left the pitch, Jutge is protected by FFR and M. Mené, and he became the n°2 on the french refs board.
Curiously ? M. Blanco is now the n°2 in FFR.
Things happen at random, ha !

Sale away, the most biased performance from any referee ever. He was practically holding hands with Chabal coming off the pitch at half time ffs

Ah yes but he made up for it at home match in Thomond (miracle match) - can remember him breaking his sides laughing at POC's tirade of bad language before a lineout in that match
