After the real Murty aka Tony Buckley left Munster, the synthetic Murtys days were numbered.

Murty should have been given a few runs in the Rabo at TH.

So if when he finishes playing and coaching doesn't work out there's still a career at Munster for Strings.

Apparently Oscar is the straw that broke the deer's back.............. serious Munster Rugby is a business and some people think they should be consulted on every single decision made by the organisation.....

Elle makes an excellent point on the Facebook thread. Oscar has gone down a storm with the kids so far and they, fundamentally, are who the mascot is for.

That Facebook page is an absolute cringepocalypse.

Some gems from the page -

Pat Daly: Typical don't consult the fans about the change I sure there'll be a blitz now of Oscar dolls , keyrings etc . All based on the assumption that we'll buy any old tat that they stick a munster Rugby Logo on. Hope it blows up in their faces . Bring back Murty

    and then, hilariously

Pat Daly: Lads if you can't see that the issue is more than about a mascot then maybe you should step back and think a little harder

P.J Kiely: i have been a member for years and will continue to be. change is good. i just thought the money i pay may entitle me to an opinion on some things that take place. i think many others on here may feel the same. i find ur answer a bit dismissive of ine of your members opinions. im not a doubter in just someone who would have liked to have been asked my opinion. maybe you might take that on board whilst we r all making our way through these tough economic times.

I'm sickened, disgusted and appalled. And horrified. Yes, horrified.

Without a word of exaggeration this a shocking act of brutal totalitarianism.

I hope he gets culled, the dirty cervine interloper that he is.

I agree. The appointment of this furry stag is a further example of the totalitarian regime currently taking over the board of this rugby team.

First they came for the Inflatable Shaking Mascot Punchbag Man (the glorious martyr known as Murty) and we did nothing. Then they came for people pretending to be giant stag monsters on stilts and still, we did nothing. What will happen when they come for the design of the match day program?

What will do, as proud Munsterrrrrr supporters? Will we fight? Will we strive to repel the authoritarian hordes?

    COME COMRADES! TO FACEBOOK!
