Very youthful side. I like it!

BJ seems to pick and choose what he wants! He came back to pre season a bit later and probably didnt fancy the trip to France, let Archer and Ryan have a shot!

When was the last time we sent out a side where our back division looked more potent than our pack? Seems to be the case with this match. With the return of our internationals and wounded within the forwards, if we can keep everyone fit, we could be a handy outfit this year.

Hope Zebo and O'Dea have great seasons,I have a huge amount of time for the both of them. Allez les Rouges.
    Evidently ChickenTown.

Key thing with this squad seems to be that Penney needs to give the young players a chance to show what they can do. He needs to know what material he has to build a side.

BJ should only be removed from the bank vault for heineken cup, Ladies days, Ospreys and Todgers. Too valuable to be sent to France in august.

The injury list outlined on the dead site is light on a couple of injured players. Good chance for Ronan O'Mahony and Brian Hayes especially to stake their claims. Not great news for Corey Hircock that he isn't making this extended squad considering the injuries and guys rested.

Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?
Editor - The writer stands by the Penney information.

    Editor-
    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.

Hi, you've reached the Corey hot-line. $4.95 a minute. Here are some
words that rhyme with Corey: Gory. Story. Allegory. Montessori.
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

By my reading we have the following 13 lads out injured
    Cotter
    Varley
    Henry
    O'Connell
    Nagle
    Foley
    DOC 2
    Ronan
    Sheridan
    Smith
    Hircock
    Murphy
    Jones

We have also rested 11 lads. All of these were involved at some level with Ireland over the summer except BJ who presumably is being kept in cotton wool.
    Botha
    Sherry
    Scannell
    Rael
    O'Callaghan
    Ryan
    O'Mahony
    Murray
    ROG
    Earls
    Zebo

I've never seen T. Smith or C. Hircock play. Both seem very injury prone unfortunately. Are they in the Keith Earls league or would they be more the Danny Barnes or Ivan Dineen league?

Hircock has been largely fit and playing for the last 2 years I think. Just hasn't made much of a dent on the B&I Cup side, never mind the first team. Smith has done his cruciate twice in the last 12 months I think.

I didn't rate Hircock at all until last season. I always thought he was too small and a level short ability wise. He improved significantly last year though. Seems to have bulked up and scored a few very decent tries I heard. If he can make a dent on the B&I Cup side this year he has a chance of a full contract next year. As of now he is behind Ronan O'Mahony though and up against it contract wise.

Smith looked decent (was excellent in an A game win away to Leinster 2 years ago) and secured a move to Shannon last year. Hopefully he'll get a run this year to show what he can do. We are hardly overloaded with 12's.

IMO they are both a lot closer to Danny Barnes standard than Keith Earls standard...
