    Madagascar's shock win over Namibia

Highlights of Madagascar's win over Namibia, great stuff. Looked like a classic.

Will be interesting to see if they can make the RWC.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Indeed, they sound like a African version of Georgia, big gra for the game outside of the usual suspects.

Have to say that I was completely ignorant of the popularity of the game in Madgascar. Fantastic result for them!

Am i correct in saying that the playing numbers in Madagascar are quite high. fairly sure i read somewhere that rugby is the national sport on the island and that the island is one of the very few places in africa where rugby is bigger than soccer

20 million people (with very athletic genetics its fair to say) and rugby is the most popular sport?? The IRB should be throwing resources at them left right and centre to get them up to standard, that's savage potential.

It should be pointed out there were around 40,000 people at that match! That's unreal stuff and is great to see. The more media coverage African rugby gets, the more people will stand up and notice and hopefully will result in greater funding and structure. The Kenyan 7s squads of late have added to the profile of African rugby too.

Looked a little warm there extra time must have been a killer.

I wonder why the likes of the wolfhounds don't visit there or is the country too poor for the IRB to be interested in them?

Judging by the commentary, the reporter read the first paragraph of the wiki page on Madagascar and went from there.

Hard to know what kind of support should be given though, hard to justify improving pitches if the schools are shacks etc. Considering it's French links, do any Madagascar players appear in the lower leagues in France?
