Did the Govt sell our Sunshine?

Oh how I used to complain about our crap summers, but this is beyond all reason. So I was thinking, did the Govt sell our pathetic Sunshine quota to someplace like Finland...?

No. The Government own and run our sunshine. That's why it doesn't work. Kinda like the HSE.

That could kind of explain it, but I think the sneaky feckers went and sold it, we'll all have S.A.D

The IMF sold it to China. They threw in the ESB as a sweetener.

Well they certainly didn't sell it to France. It pelted rain here on the Ile De Re all day. Think of the Australia match or the Lanelli HCQF.

My wife and daughter flew to Nantes this morning for a shortened holiday in Carnac and have already been on about the rain over there.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

If it's so, you can trust me: Our regional gov did not buy it!
The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. Parasol? Or paraguas? They're lucky there. A place where an afternoon thunderstorm is pretty much guaranteed. Just when you need to be cooled off. Most other sweltering places in the US aren't so lucky. Oh...and umbrellas for rain aren't a good idea in the "lightening strike state"

The government have given it to a private contractor to sell off in the form of usage tolls and if enough people do not buy "sun Days" then the government will make up the difference. You wide?

It is not a good day in Dublin. I have had warmer days in winter. It is a good day in comparison to recent rain soaked days and at least it has not rained today...yet and I got all the laundry dried. But to summarise...I have been smuggling peanuts all day.

Could you please specify which continent or country the heatwave starts. Speaking of heatwaves...our kids think that a full day of sunshine and sun cream constitutes a heatwave. That is not joke :-(

Ok, don't shoot the messenger, but there's an Irish fella on Boards.ie who lives in Canada and is a serious weather expert. He posts daily forecasts at 6am our time and they are very comprehensive and pretty darn accurate. He compares a variety of the 'big' weather models independently and gives his verdict. He's always been pretty close to the truth in his predictions. His (forum) name is M.T.Cranium. He reckons (at long last) there's more chance of a bit of summer now than any time in the last few months.

Is he any relation to the cat worrier in Donegal that watches the moutains or does he watch the dolphins frolicking and they are a sure sign along with the swallows flying backwards humming dambusters theme tune. If so...I will hold my breath.

Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?

    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.

Well folks, I dunno which part of the world ye were inhabiting over the weekend, but I spent from Friday morning till Sunday evening riding 630 miles on a round trip to/around Co. Mayo, but other than a few spits that lasted all of three minutes I didn't get rained on once, and actually had to seek out the shade in Belmullet because I was starting to get sunburn .... Admittedly we got lucky a couple of times - came outside on Sunday morning to find evidence of a shower a bit earlier, and the same when we came back out after stopping for lunch. But I actually got a bit of a tan through my visor!
Never mind perception because it isn’t real. It’s only what people think. Go out and make them think something else.

He sure is. This is this week's effort:-

TODAY ... Periods of rain, moderate and briefly heavy will continue for a few hours across Leinster while ending soon in Munster. Further north, much lighter showers will come and go, but eventually most regions should see brighter weather by afternoon as any showers become very isolated. Rainfalls of about 10-15 mms are possible in Leinster and 1-3 mms most other regions. Highs around 18 C except 15-16 C in coastal north.

TONIGHT ... Fog patches, humid, isolated showers. Lows 9-12 C.

TUESDAY ... Variable cloud south, warm and humid with occasional showers and risk of a thunderstorm. Rainfalls quite variable, possibly 15-30 mms in a few spots southwest, central and northeast, probably more like 5-10 mms northwest and southeast counties with highs 18-22 C.

WEDNESDAY ... Further heavy showers and risk of thunderstorms especially across Ulster, inland Connacht and north Leinster. Rainfalls 20-40 mms possible in these regions, but more dispersed and variable rainfalls further south, 10-15 mms on average. Some sunny intervals further south, fresh westerly winds developing, lows near 10 C and highs near 18 C.

THURSDAY ... Breezy and turning cooler with further showers (5-10 mms) in a northwest wind of 20-35 mph at times, highs 15-17 C.

FRIDAY ... Partly cloudy, isolated showers becoming mostly confined to parts of north central and southwest, highs near 18 C.

OUTLOOK ... A more settled spell may begin to develop, expect some coastal low cloud and fog, drizzle in west at times, but hazy sunshine with cloudy intervals further east, rather warm inland and east coast with highs to about 21-23 C by Sunday. Beyond the weekend it may become rather warm for a few days with potential for highs into the mid 20s. It all depends on how far north a strong ridge of high pressure drifts, conditions would become especially warm if the ridge axis reaches or passes a Dublin-Shannon line.
