    Training

Are there any dates for open training sessions this Summer or what are current training arrangements? Have we to wait for Penney to arrive before we hear?

There will be sessions around the province in the next few weeks. Munster are just finalising arrangements with the local clubs involved. More should be known by the end of next week.

Thanks Dumptruck. What are these sessions normally like? Are they accurate reflections of what stage individuals are at or is it more of a PR exercise?

They are full on training sessions, no point is wasting a day just because there are people watching. Of course there's a PR angle but certainly full on sessions ahead of that.

It's always a series of articles on MR.ie that I'm delighted to see, highlights the kindness and 'ordinariness' of the lads in the squad when they hit the road for training. They always give huge amounts of time to local kids and big kids alike.

Also a signal it won't be long before the real stuff begins. Hope Penney and Mannix get a real feel for what we are about when they venture into the outlands.

Couldn't agree more cowboy. I know there's been alot of sarcastic comments made on here lately about watching the lads train and seeing them in the flesh etc... but incentives like this are hugely encouraging and means a great amount to the kids and as you said big kids alike. It's what Munster rugby should continue to be about and fair play to everyone involved in organizing this and the players for continuing to get out and about amongst the smaller communities in the Province.

I've been at 2 of them and they were well different.

The first one lasted about an hour or two and included a practice match aswell as scrummaging and lineouts with Mick Gaillimh putting in an appearance in Waterford.

The second one at the start of last season was all running and skills. Nowhere near as PR focused and lasted over 3 hours before any autographs were given.

As an aside any team training in a three hour block needs their heads read!!!!

Must try and get along to one of these.

I might be imagining things, but there is a hell of a lot of rugby balls at that training session. A hell of a lot.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Ryan seems to still be training some bit at loose head. Wonder where he'll see more time this season.

It's a morning session in Tralee, on the pitch from about 10.30 for a couple of hours including meet and greet and a session with the summer camp kids, gone by lunch-time. Plenty of parking at the club.
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

    Tralee Camp A Success
    3 August 2012, 8:04 pm
    By The Editor

Despite the bad weather, a night camping in Tralee RFC and an open training session didn't dampen spirits as players hit the ground running this morning with a dedicated Tralee following in full support.
The players started out on Thursday afternoon attending the “High Ropes” activity centre in Killarney before moving on to Tralee where the club members were ready and waiting with Munster flags on display throughout the town and roadside all the way out to the clubhouse. On arrival the squad was broken into teams with players taking part in a competitive cook-out and a tent building exercise – the tents went on to serve as the overnight accommodation.

loads of pictures up as well
