Who knows that Penney is thinking.

    Personally, I'd like:
    1 duPreez
    2 Sherry
    3 Botha
    4 Ryan
    5 Paulie
    6 Beta
    7 Stander/Ronan
    8 POM
    9 Murray
10 ROG/Keatley(even game time) with JJ getting some pro-12 action
    11 Zebo
    12 Downey
    13 Earls/Laulala
14 Dougie(if the injury gods are good)
    15 Felix

Difficult to say as new coach has a new idea and some players will sit up and perform at a higher level but for me at mo HC team would be
    1. Kilcoyne
    2. Sherry
    3. Botha
    4. Ryan
    5. O'Connell
    6. O'Mahoney
    7. Stander
    8. Coughlan
    9. Murrey
    10. O'Gara (But maybe should be Keatley or JJ)
    11. Zebo
    12. Downey
    13. Lua lala (Earls not a better option in my opnion)
    14. Howlett
    15. Earls

Coming off the bench players with impact like Dougall, Nagle, Varley, Butler, Ronan or O'Callaghan in the forwards with Strings and either JJ or Keatley with Jones, O'Dea or Hurley to offer something off the bench...

Very interesting on the back row but I think Coughlan has been outstanding for us for the past 2 years and was missed at the end of the season, him Stander and O'Mahoney look like a hungry and different back row which if given decent front foot ball (depends on BJ fitness and with a big center partnership that we could have and a back 3 that includes the pace of Zebo & Earls with the knowledge of Dougie looks a strong starting 15. Interesting to see how we use ROG??

That's a decent way to welcome a new poster alright, thanks for that.

Anyhow, can't see that many changes from this remove. you'd hope Keatley or Hanrahan would be in but you never know. I'd hope O'dea has a good chance of staking a claim at fullback.

I was kinda weird Taz, as you seem to be the new poster cheer squad, or even the I haven't seen you in ages, welcome back cheer squad...

    I'd like to see...
    1. Kilcoyne
    2. Sherry
    3. Botha
    4. Ryan
    5. O'Connell
    6. DOC2.0
    7. Stander
    8. POM
    9. Murray
    10. O'Gara (or JJ)
    11. Zebo
    12. Downey
    13. Lualala
    14. Howlett
    15. Earls
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Thin enough at 15 alright. Our present incumbents cannot stake a claim on unflappable form nor bomb proof durability. Be great to see a few more names available to Penney at 15.

The rest of the team sorta picks itself (2, 10, 11 being up for competition)

Would like to see at least 3 youngfellas establish themselves this season a la murray Pom and Shick Merry did last season. Don't mind what positions they emerge in but a front rower, outhalf and full back would be just magic. Spotlight may shine on Nagle too, Foley and Hayes are putting their hands up.

Can't wait for the new season. Fresh start for everyone.
    I am the million man.

Mother of god,it was a joke, stating the obvious like the inevitable "looks weak" on other threads.

Saying something like that "I thought" would get a thread going with a smile.

Can't see Earls being shifted from 13, especially as BOD is facing into the twilight. Is Jones back training?

Having signed lualala i don't see Earls 13 for munster, possibly fill the roll now and than but with casey in the fold now i can't see beyond him.

Unsure if felix has returned to training. Poor lad can't get a break from the injury nightmares!!

Would like to see JJ as back up ahead of keats. deserves a shot at least. can see the bench being for the backs, sheridan, jj and felix if fit

Other way around maybe, Earls will miss a lot of the season with ireland etc so Lualala is to fill in for him.

Not what we need. How does that affect any preseason he'd have?

JJ rather than Keats as backup to or even pushing ROG ?
Penney would have watched him in SA and whatever about some aspects of his game that he may still have to learn, a reliable kicker is a MUST in the game these days.

I want to see more of O'Dea and POM @8, move Dougie to Full Back. It'd be nice to see Ronan get a full season, he looked good until injury last year.

There are positions like openside and prop where there are a number of unproven players.

I don't think DOC is playing as poorly as some are saying, but hard to see Ryan being dropped after the season he's had. It'll probably come down to what backrow we can pick and do we need Ryan at 6. I'm not as convinced that guys like DOCv2.0 are ready to be HEC starters yet but we'll see what the preseason brings.

Glad some people agree with me that 15 is Earls best position. Under the high ball is my main worry though. But attacking wise he runs lines like Christian Cullen when he was breaking through in NZ

    I'm going to go with...
1 - Horan (Give him a chance, I'd say he still has it!... seriously, don't judge the whole team on this one, I'm serious!!!)
2 -Sherry (Let him build strength in his arms to not have the ball yanked from his grasp so easily)
    3 - Botha
    4 - DRyan
    5 - POC
    6 - DOC2.0
    7 - POM
8 - Coughlan (Lots of youth coming through the team but Y'ol JC has still been one of the best and consistent players in the league and HC, has earned the right to be here which is not a common feat in irish rugby these days!)
    9 - Murray
10 - Keatly (Lets be honest, he has shown some great play over the RDP12 and deserves some more responsibility IMHO)
    11 - Zebo
    12 - Laulala
    13 - Earls
    14 - The Doug
15 - Hurley (I can still remember he Excellent early season form last year and along with Mafi was perfecting the Sonny Bill offload before his form took a dip... funnily enough the same time every one elses did!)
The problem with this world is there are too many snakes... and not enough Ladders!

Hurley's form dipped when he was moved to the wing, a position to which he is unsuited. Had a better season at fullback than Jones and deserves to be first choice there imo. Felix has a long way to go to live up to the hype imo.

Either play Hurley at fullback or don't play him at all. That came across loud and clear to me in the second half of last season. Jones didn't regain his previous form last season after his last injury. Lets hope he is back to his best once his current injury clears up. Perfect opportunity to give O'Dea or especially Scanlon a few games in a row at 15 IMO
