Good win by ulster last night, minimum of fuss , away from home.

Should be able to get min of 5 out of back to backs v Northampton .
Both will be looking over their shoulder at castres, as they have Glasgow b to b, and last ow are out!

    Will be a tight group.

Indeed, looks ominous alright. Plus if anyone was going to be moved from their usual slot, I'd have thought Gilroy would be a more natural choice for covering fullback. Looks as though T-Bowe and the Earl (which sounds like the name of a corny 80s crimefighting duo) are the ones being looked at as cover for the AIs. Ho-hum ...
Never mind perception because it isn’t real. It’s only what people think. Go out and make them think something else.

Iain Henderson is a phenomenal talent. He's basically a younger Ferris.

He has to get some minutes with Ireland during the AI.

    What a player

Been meaning to post this for a while, why couldn't we get the type of performance
from Williams that Ulster have consistently been getting thus far this season??
Is it that Anscombe coached him before so knows how to manage him?
Has he only now adapted to the Northern Hemisphere game?

I'm happy to see him play so well and after the tragedy they have had to endure,
I would be very happy to see Ulster win the H Cup btw, just disappointed that we couldnt
(Dragons in Musgrave park match aside) get this level of performance from big Nick

I can see exactly what you're saying. There were quite a few not happy we were signing him. Now he's a cult hero. But a lot of guys remembered him for you and thought why the hell are we signing him.

Turns out he loves Anscombe and would do anything he asks. Turns out he absolutely loves Belfast. Turns out he has matured and realises that at his age it's sort of last chance saloon. I guess its sort of right player, right coach, right time?

Tonight was a decent win against poor opposition with a lot to work on.

The bookies are starting to agree with you, Ulster were 19-1 to win the HC before it started now they're 8-1.
They're definitely motoring in the right direction, not sure if this is the year they can win it but bearing in mind last year, you have to lose win before you win one. This year if they get a strong french team in the semis at home who knows

With Bowe joining, Payne back from injury and Jackson more experienced (had he even started 1 H Cup match before the final?) it was clear as day that they would be better on paper this season, talked to plenty of our Northern brethren after the final in London about this.
With Anscombe fitting right in and Williams really showing up so well, on top of Henderson's performances, they're right up there.
Keep off the pies so Nick, gotta love the ball in one hand, head bobbing, hand off's in the face runs, like a fat Felix who runs through instead or around players!

I think Nick will struggle to play against a good athletic oppposing number 8.

I think they have done well against what they are up against. They are a couple of years ahead of us as a squad, but there are very few of their players who I would prefer over ours.

You'd probably want the Ulster team spirit and winning mindset rather than any individual player. You can buy a top-class player but you can't buy a winning mindset or a team's unity of purpose.

Or maybe you're thinking of Thomond Park last April? That was Ulster's HEC Final.

I presume you mean who would improve our matchday 22??

Id have Best, Ferris, Payne,Bowe ,Henderson,Marshall(sh), Fitzpatrick, and possibly Jackson.

No shame in complimenting some of the ulster team.

Ferris absolutely. Best for a season or two. Henry (base on TP performance), Bowe. Otherwise I will stick to a young and improving Munster squad.

Well its a hypothetical question of course...id rather stick to our own too.....

Apart from.the ones we agree on...but right now today.....imo Marshall >Williams..... Fitzpatrick > archer...payne>Hurley\Jones......and id take Henderson in a heartbeat.

But they're all red hand and not red...

Aye, and if you ask me what Munster players I'd want in our team I'd only say POC and Earls.

One wonders how Ulster have went unbeaten this season, yet Munster have won 5/9? We both got new coaches, who has changed the game plan? We both have used young players - Craig Gilroy (21), Paddy Jackson(20), Michael Heaney(22), Luke Marshall(21), Iain Henderson(20), Sean Doyle(22), Rob Herring(22), Michael Allen(21) + the likes of Paddy McAllister (23) and Chris Farrell (19) who would have got plenty of game time if they weren't on the injury list.

    Whats your excuse Last stand?

Honestly, the only Munster players I'd put in the Ulster line up is Earls at 13 and POC at 5.

Well I would prefer Munster men playing for Munster so that rules your lads out.

We now have players emerging with huge talent like Kilcoyne, Butler, Hanrahan on top of the likes of POM, Zebo and Murray. I would not swap that talent.

Munster will be winning again before too long. We lost 3 away games to the H Cup champions, the H Cup runners up (could have won that one) and the league champions.
