How does Herring qualify to play for Ireland, Born and raised in SA and spent a few years in England??!?!
The problem with this world is there are too many snakes... and not enough Ladders!
Rumour du jour is the NIE back row player destined for Ulster is Jacques Botes.... and before anyone asks, Ulster currently has 3 NIEs signed up (Muller, Pienaar, Afoa) with Payne as the NIQ.

More low risk high reward signings, hopefully Sean Doyle turns out a decent player but could be a win win for Ulster giving us much needed back row cover.Heaney and Doyle join Ulster ranks

Heaney in action for Ulster Ravens
Ulster Rugby today announced the signings of scrumhalf Michael Heaney and back row forward Sean Doyle...
Heaney has rejoined the club from Doncaster Knights on a 4 month short term deal, with the opportunity of a full time contract at the end of that period. A graduate of the Phoenix Ulster Academy, Heaney has represented Ulster at all levels and made his senior debut for the Province in a pre-season friendly away to Harlequins in August 2010. He was a member of the Ireland U20 squad that won the 2010 Six Nations Championship and also competed in the IRB Junior World Championships later that year.
The 21 year old joined Doncaster midway through the 2011/12 season after playing his club rugby in Ulster with Belfast Harlequins.
Doyle is an Australian born openside flanker who has joined from Sydney club side Southern Districts. The Irish-qualified 22 year old has been one of the leading players in the New South Wales Premier Grade over the past four seasons and has also been a strong performer for the NSW ‘A’ representative side.

Williams signs for Ulster
22 June 2012, 12:42 pm
Ulster Rugby has today confirmed the signing of back row Nick Williams on a two year contract...
Weighing 120kgs, he is an intimidating presence on the field and is regarded as one of the most explosive ball carriers in Europe. The 28 year old had a successful career in his homeland, making 37 Super Rugby appearances for the Blues during a four year spell. He also played for North Harbour under new Ulster coach Mark Anscombe in the Air New Zealand Cup.
Williams joined Munster ahead of the 2008/09 campaign and helped them secure the Magners League title in his debut season. He then moved to Italian franchise Aironi and his scoring record of 10 tries in 31 league games underlined his importance to them.
Director of Rugby, David Humphreys, believes Williams will prove to be a major success in Belfast as his side targets success in the Heineken Cup and PRO12. “Nick was a standout player during his time at Aironi and he will add a great deal to our squad. His addition means there will be real depth right across the back row and this is vital, given that Stephen Ferris is under an IRFU Player Management Programme.
“Mark Anscombe brought him out of club rugby in New Zealand and believes he can make a huge impact here at Ulster. He is an excellent ball carrier and is a very physical in defence,” added Humphreys.

Allen Clarke moves to Ulster
Rugby: Allen Clarke, High Performance Manager with The Irish Rugby Football Union, is to leave the position to take up a similar role as Elite Performance Development Manager with Ulster Rugby. The timing of the move will coincide with the IRFU appointing a suitable replacement.
The IRFU will advertise immediately in Irish and International outlets for the position.
“It has been an honour and a privilege for me to have been involved in such a critical role for Irish Rugby over the past 5 years. I have worked with extraordinarily dedicated people across committees and team managements; but above all else so many of the young players I have come in contact with have been truly exceptional in their dedication and desire to progress to the highest levels.
“Ulster Rugby has done extraordinary work, both on and off the field, to develop rugby in the Province and is positioned for further major growth and success in the coming years.
I look forward to being a part of this dynamic unit and contributing to what will undoubtedly be an exciting time for Ulster Rugby,” said Clarke.
David Humphreys, Director of Rugby at Ulster Rugby, in welcoming Allen Clarke’s move to Ulster, added:

Is Jarrad Payne Ulsters Project player?? I watched him in super 15 last season before joining Ulster and looked an unreal talent. Looking forward to seeing him fit and playing ball the way he's shown he can. Another question is are the IRFU bringing in the elcet a position policy that'll see the likes of Nacewa picking a postition and sticking with it?

From ERC site Will be interesting to see if Ulster can make more out of him than Munster managed, bit of an exaggeration to describe him as “one of the most explosive ball carriers in European club rugby.”
Last season's defeated Heineken Cup finalists, Ulster Rugby, have confirmed the signing of back row Nick Williams on a two-year contract.
Weighing 120kgs, he is an intimidating presence on the field and is regarded as one of the most explosive ball carriers in European club rugby.
The 28-year-old had a successful career in his homeland, making 37 Super Rugby appearances for the Auckland Blues during a four-year spell. He also played for North Harbour under new Ulster coach Mark Anscombe in the Air New Zealand Cup.
Williams joined Munster ahead of the 2008/09 campaign and helped them secure the Magners League title in his debut season before moving to Italian franchise Aironi Rugby.
Director of Rugby, David Humphreys, believes Williams will prove to be a major success in Belfast as his side targets success in the Heineken Cup and PRO12. "Nick was a stand-out player during his time at Aironi and he will add a great deal to our squad. His addition means there will be real depth right across the back row and this is vital, given that Stephen Ferris is under an IRFU Player Management Programme.
"Mark Anscombe brought him out of club rugby in New Zealand and believes he can make a huge impact here at Ulster. He is an excellent ball carrier and is a very physical in defence," added Humphreys.
Ulster have been drawn in Pool 4 of next season's Heineken Cup along with Northampton Saints, Glasgow Warriors and Castres Olympique.

McAllister Sidelined
13 August 2012, 10:49 am
by Richard Finlay
Ulster prop Paddy McAllister will be sidelined for
the majority of the season after picking up a significant knee injury in
training last week.
The 23 year old has torn his
anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament, which will require
surgery and thus rule him out for a large part of the season.
He will be assessed by a knee specialist early this week which will give a
better prognosis for a return to action.
Bad timing for McAllister as thought this might be the season he pushed on past Court.
