I'd image a 7 o clock kickoff, be interesting to see how many new college students bohs have plucked out of every corner of the country as they tend to do!! Also be very interesting to see how YM do in replace Liam Og and Ham O Neill in the back row. Bohs dealings have been kept very quiet except for Richmond prop and Mossy taking over there!

Has Johnny Moroney, sometime YM BR/2nd Row utility man, gone to Richmond? Or is he staying at Clifford Park?

Johnny is still with YM, massive yr for him, big opportunity to law down a marker for a regular starting birth, been there abouts for the last few seasons but never consistently started. Big chance at 6 for him

YM have been boosted by the news that Mark Rowley looks set to return from Australia and a further boost is the increasing likely that Willie Staunton has decided to stay in Limerick and resign with YM for this season, and Matt Costello is coming back from the states. Interesting developments if these are all true than YM could be there abouts again come March/April time

Hard to see Willie and Quinn-McDonagh starting in the same team, even with Burke gone. Lukas Kunz (or however you spell it) fit again? He could be important if Kelleher is gone back to Richmond

are u mad they lost most of there backrow quinn mc donagh is only an average player couldnt start when bennett was fit out in shannon wouldnt get to carried away just yet

Have the same front 5, same number 8 and if rowley is back its just a 7 missing from the backrow that started the AIL last yr! Liam Og spent first couple of games injured. YM will be strong, not getting carried away, believe they'll still be top 3, but realistically can see Tarf or Lansdowne being topdogs this yr!!

Lansdowne...always have a good/excellent squad on paper but never seem capable of stringing together a few decent results. Serious lack of team spirit or something the last few seasons, they'd probabaly one of the strongest squad in 1A and 1B 2 seasons ago yet only managed to get promoted when Bucc's went in a tail spin towards the end of the season and lost their last 4 games.

i'd say ourselves (CLontarf) with Darragh Fitzpatrick at 10, Furlong propping and Flanagan in 2nd row will be up there and i reckon Garryowen will have a decent team, they've made some decent signings and i'd expect Con to be up there challenging also along with YM.

Ronaldson apparently is heading across to bath, weakens Lansdowne considerably, was sensational for them last season. Congrats to him on going pro, Foster horan is also appears to be at London Irish at the moment

Anybody go to these games? How did they go?

  22. #140
Garryowen won it. Beat OC in the final 22-0. They beat Shannon with a last minute try in their semi.

Games were 2x20 min halves. McCloskey played with Garryowen.

Matt Healy has also left them for Connacht. They might struggle next season, although their pack will have a fair few of last season's Irish U20's.

Lansdowne backline will be considerably weaker! John Cooney i expect to see more of him in blue than the red yellow and black of lansdowne, serious talent so going on that, they've lost cooney, ronaldson (best 9-10 combo in AIL last yr) and Foster horan that tore considerable strips out of teams last yr! Massive boots to fill, any speculation around dublin or the rest of the country to whose being looked at as a replacement for Ronaldson?

O ya and Matt Healy whose been consistently a thorn in the side of nearly every AIL club from D2 up! Delighted to see his talents are being looked at cause if anyone deserves it he does!!!

  25. #143
An update on some posts above- Declan Lavery has signed with Old Belvedere

  26. #144
Healy could well still be playing for Lansdowne, due to the lack of clubs playing in 1A and 1B in Connacht, Maguire last year was still playing for Old Belvedere.

true, but POD, Kearney and Eoghan Grace played in 1B with Buccs and galwegians.

Wouldnt be surprised if Lansdowne have resigned Hickey at 10, talk that willie staunton was being eyed up by Dublin clubs but i think he's sticking with YM.

So true. That guy is absolute quality. Hope he gets a right cut off it up there.

There has been alot of player movement up in Ulster, Ballymena lost something like 10 of their starting team to retirement or transfer and have brought in at least 10 players. 2A Queens have lost alot but will always strengthen with school boys. In 2B I would expect Rainey to go well this year they have strengthened considerably and have ex Ulster players Tim Barker and Jonny Shiels on board.

Thomas Anderson backrow contracted with Connacht (Willies son) has signed for Garryowen.

It seem to have been an extremely quite summer by Old Crescents standards, normally linked with a lot of players and tend to recruit heavily yr in yr out, anyone know what their story is for this upcoming season??
