turned down good offers before to stay with Garryowen (and to keep playing and being in Limerick) despite the travel etc. You couldn't fault his commitment and work ethic.

How long is the window, or what is the cut off date for clubs to have signed players for the coming season?

Heard that Highfield might be signing Tom Gleeson, thats where he started out, would be a great signing for them.

Interesting about Duncan Williams, wouldnt be all that surprising though, he's played very little rugby in the last year and Gerry Hurley is captain at Con now so he will be first choice 9, if he isnt starting for Munster Williams needs to be playing for a club for his own sake.

Dont know him at all sorry. I'm in the uk however so I don't know all the players. You sure he is with Garryowen? He wasn't playing senior anyway. Lavery and Cooney were our props last season and Kennedy before he got injured (Ormond lad....any idea on his fitness?)

He's talking about Jason Harney I presume? 23/24 years old loosehead. Was on the bench a few times last year. Started a few games in 2010/2011 but Cooney has overtaken him now. Hadn't heard anything about him leaving (I am in Australia though so takes a while for word to filter down here!!) but I could see why he would.

Player coach from the story I heard last night.
    Otaga Daily Times 2/5/2012
Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?
Editor - The writer stands by the Penney information.

    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.

I wasn't questioning the logistics of putting on two AIL games at the same time.My point is that i'm sure there are plenty of people who would like to go to both. But i'm sure you knew that when you were typing your smartass reply.

    It wasn't a smartass reply.

. Each season the fixture calendar is is crammed with games, so maybe playing them on the same evening , is taking into consideration what the rest of the weekend may hold for those clubs resources.. jnr games, 2nds, underage etc.. Of course some may like to go to both, but I suppose those doing the fixtures consider other things.

The AIL Committee would make no concessions on what a club has planned for any given weekend, jnr games,2nds or underage. If they did no games would be played. The clubs got the fixture dates a couple of weeks ago and were invited to make submissions but these would only be things like ground-sharing or player's weddings on an AIL weekend.

    Don't know so.
I do know that clubs received a note advising that bringing games forward to dates that are free would be allowed, but that pushing games out to the latter end of the season would not be.

All ko times are listed as 18:30, actual times TBC. Can't see Dolphin coming to Limerick for a Friday 18:30 ko, players at work / college.

Some AIL players have been offered contracts by Connacht including JP Cooney of Garryowen. It will be very interesting to see how this talented young prospect gets on. Good scrummager and strong ball carrier and we can't forget that he is only 22. Pretty sure he has been starting AIL for Garryowen now for over 2 years and has been more than holding his own at scrum time

tbf munster still do. philly donnellan got academy place and was on munster A sides due to his performances in AIL and there has been plenty of others whove got through to contracts from the AIL

I don't know if Munster were watching Cooney or not but he has looked good playing with Garryowen. I hope he remains with the club. I believe Matthew Jarvis may be coming to Garryowen

Has Hugh Hogan packed in playing this year? Heard a rumour that he's been drafted in as a forwards coach with Mary's and is hanging up his boots, any confirmation on this does anyone know?

Does anyone know when preseason fixtures are on? Be interesting to see clubs in build up to AIL games.

Clubs will be playing games from next week on i imagine as its only 3 weeks until the charity cups so clubs will want a game or two before that. Nenagh are playing shannon in the next few weeks afaik
