Yep. Auva'a is already Irish-qualified, he has been living in Dublin and playing for Belvo for quite a while. Strauss will become Irish-qualified through residency next month. Nacewa and van der Merwe and non-Irish-eligible, having been capped by Fiji and South Africa respectively.

Both Quinn Roux and Andrew Goodman are NIQ [i.e. they could in theory qualify to play for Ireland through residency if they stay for three years]. Post October – and Strauss' qualification – it'll be:

NIQ: Nacewa, van der Merwe, A.N. Other
    NIE: Goodman, Roux [project]

I thought a province can only have 1 project player?

A province must have at least one project player. They can have all project players if they wish, as far as I am aware. I don't think the IRFU would have any objections to that. I'm sure there have been several examples of more than one player that could one day be eligible for Ireland being in a squad in recent years. Berquist and Strauss springs to mind from last season.

Thats fair enough don't know where I had it in my head where a province could only have 1 designated project player.

I have to confess, I hate this "project" player concept. Loathe it. It's open, shameless, systematic poaching, nothing more, nothing less. If the Kiwis were doing this in the Pacific Islands, we'd never hear the end of it; but we do this, and then have the hypocrisy to moan about Islanders who've been living in Auckland since they could toddle playing for the ABs. It's pretty shameful.

Without wishing to get into the whole debate, it's pragmatism made possible by the rules of the IRB. Perhaps not ideal, and I personally would not be overly keen seeing many 'project' players lining out for the Green Monkeys, but thats the hand that has been dealt and it would be foolish of the IRFU to not take advantage of it....so at the very least they have an option if the sh@t it the fan with say Ferris and O'Brien and there were a lack of viable alternatives they could in theory bring Stander in if he wished to buy into Munster and thus Ireland for his career.

RHH, I have no issue with getting in overseas players up to a certain number to play for the provinces as players for the provinces, and if in due course they become eligible and then opt for Ireland, well and good. But targeting players, specifically targeting players, to be poached for Ireland from another country's developmental system is an appalling thing to be doing. I grant it's OT, and I'm sorry to have diverted the thread, but it's just a visceral dislike of the whole thing.

Same situation, all three of them were potentially Irish qualified and playing for Leinster at the same time. Sykes was the more likely, of course, but all of them were potentially eligible.

It will be. He's well used to playing there but I think his running threat is most potent when he's able to step through a gap as he drifts across a rushing line. From deep, he'll struggle to cut through the defence as much. Will still be good for him to get some exposure outside of 10. Hopefully he'll get a couple of runs at 12 also.

    Here's the error James :

    FastCGI Error

The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.
    Error Details:

    • The FastCGI pool queue is full
    • Error Number: 4 (0x80070004).
    • Error Description: The system cannot open the file.

HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)

And because I'm nice, here's now to fix it in IIS7 - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4...-queue-is-full

Edit: It looks like ye're using IIS6. Little more complicated...
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...(v=ws.10).aspx
Basically, in c:\system32\inetsrv there's a file called fcgiext.ini, increase the QueueLength from 1000 here, and then run iisreset from a command line.
