It's on the RTE Radio media player now, the full show is up.
That was a great interview.... i enjoyed that.....
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
Brilliant. Thanks for the links. If he's half as good as he sounds, we'll be fine.

Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?

Very good interview, spread the teamwork praises about, first fence jumped in the Grand National.
He is a very positive about what he can bring to the table .
liked the reference to Brad Thorn....

Good interview and I like how he sees Foley, ROG and POC as assets as some thought he may find it difficult to deal with the senior players and Foley.
He certainly said all the right things, and is good at interviews. Glad to see him comfortable with the media, and he was certainly more interesting than McGahan who always seemed to find interviews hard work.

Penney impressed by Munster’s young guns
By Barry Coughlan

New coach Rob Penney has only been in Ireland a few days, but he likes what he has seen from the youngsters who will form the nucleus of Munster’s renewed challenge to reach the summit of European rugby in the next couple of years.
Penney has yet to sit down with some of the key senior figures of the provincial side who return for pre-season activity tomorrow but he and backs coach Simon Mannix have been impressed with the less experienced players in the squad.

If first impressions count, then new Munster rugby coach Rob Penney got off to a flyer yesterday at his official unveiling, apologising to the assembled hacks for arriving a few minutes late.

Munster coach Rob Penney has yet to reveal his vision for the future but the line-out and development of a new high quality back row will be high up on his agenda.
The former back row admitted he will use forwards coach Anthony Foley and team manager Niall O’Donovan to create what he believes will become a potent weapon.

Penney did a presentation to the squad when he met them, about where he was from ,what he had done up to now, about his family etc. Everyone seemed impressed with the guy.

Thanks BOK. I've narrowed down the player file to this one

The Penney piece starts at 9 mins 30 sec in.
“Do not repeat the tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances.”
Barry O Mahony said on twitter "...new coach in today #soundman" Very impressed with his interview, totally agree with the comment about Dumper finding them hard work, seems to come more naturally to Penney and he seems to know exactly what he wants to do with Munster and how to do it.
Can we get that countdown to the next game clock back on the front page? Great to see some positivity around the place again!
\"In a world gone mad, only a lunatic is truly insane\"
Yeah that! Penney can certainly talk the talk so hopefully he can walk the walk. Reading the interviews in the examiner he seems like the kinda guy who likes to have everything out in the open, honesty between players and coaches is a huge thing. Seriously liking, actually loving his repeated rumblings about youth, he's either been told or realises that Munster don't stand a chance in the future unless we build on the youth and trust them. As he said, when the younger guys are given a chance they rarely let you down and the only way they can prove themselves is on the pitch - music to my ears! Not going to lie, I'm getting pretty excited about this season, almost hard! Don't think there will be much silverware but I think were going to see some pretty decent rugby being played by a lot of young players - the present and the future are bright - BELIEVE!
Arse. I can feel hope again. And, to quote John Cleese: it's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand.
This better not go arseways. Please, please, please, God - not this time, m'kay? Please? I'll go to the early mass to get a run at the day if it'll seal the deal...?
Vorsprung durch Pfennig.
It took a few years before the arseology got too much the last time. We've at least 1 season at a minimum of unbridled optimism and hope!

Good clear voice with measured and even tone, sounds like a thoughtful and open guy, and especially interested with his emphasis on working with the players who are (his emphasis) HERE. No wish list. Has assessed the situation. Interesting photo from training with him and young Donnellan. Enjoyed his references to robust discussions - he is obviously prepared to speak and listen both. The level of forward expertise here is massive with RP himself, Niallo and Axel. He is here to win in European competition and make a bigger name back home.

As well as the development of the young players , he and Mannix both stated that there is a clear plan in how they want Munster to play . He is going to present this to the full squad next week and he wants them to buy in to the new style .Also tactical and technical development of the young players was highlighted . He has a clear idea of the changes he wants to bring in but realistic enough to know he cannot introduce it all at once .Like many on here i am looking forward to how this will all work out .

I agree Niall. Tony Mc always came across as very uneasy with the press in my opinion.
