Anyone in particular you think should be starting from the youths? I heard enright gone up to the 20's so with the two others gone up that would have been 4 youths.

The U19's was an entertaining enough game. Munster by far the stronger team, they shoved the Connacht scrum all over the pitch and dominated possession but worryingly seemed to lose the ball a lot in contact either through a turnover or giving away a penalty. A big squad and to be fair to the coaches, everyone seemed to get a run. Front row and back row worked well but the backs seemed to misfire a fair bit. Should get better as they play together more.

    Munster U20 **, Bruff nil.

I suppose it reflected the fact the Munster team has been together all summer, while Bruff are presumably just running out, but it was a tad one sided, particularly with a Bruff player being yellow carded and two or three tries being put through them in that period.

This has been reported as 17, nil on the Munster rugby Board. and I amend this to reflect the official notice.

I heard Leinster beat that Italy side 17 to 7.

    Cheers for the info C.
Was even more interested in that game as one of our (former...) players on that team. Scored a bit in Kilballyowen Park.
Would be interested in any report from MP too.

Munster a schools play the youths in the next week, i think, which should be an interesting game.
a schools getting bit more work done ahead of interpros and are training a few times a week for next few weeks having only trained once a week for most of the summer
99, shane appears to be doing well. what do you think his position is? he was a 10 originally but has mainly played in the centre with munster. Is he a 12/13 or will he go back playing 10 more often?

We always thought of him as a FH, was always good to read a situation and could both kick and break. Deffo not a FB, but probably could play 2nd 5/8/IC, not OC. Not quick enough for wing either. We had a few great wingers and centres - unfortunately not playing now..........

Not sure what Munster where Munster want to play him, but they seem to have settled on the Waterpark lad this year.

BTW, how is Cronan coming along thsi year. Was very impressed last year.

McMahon finds extra gear for Munster

    By Barry Coughlan
    Thursday, September 06, 2012
Munster Schools 23 Connacht Schools 15
The Munster U18 schools side got their interprovincial campaign off to a winning start when they just about proved too good for a competitive Connacht side at sun-drenched Musgrave Park yesterday.

Connacht will look back with regret having failed to make use of decent possession while, crucially, Munster took the try-scoring chances that came their way.

In a forgettable first half, Gearoid Lyons kicked Munster ahead with a penalty but Dwayne Corcoran quickly levelled for the visitors.

Munster made a big breakthrough with the game’s opening try when they scorned an opportunity to kick for goal, and from the lineout ball full-back Stephen Fitzgerald got in for the touchdown which Lyons converted. Dogged Connacht stuck in and Corcoran kicked two penalties to Lyons one and the gap was down to 13-9 at the half-time.

Corcoran kicked another penalty early in the second half but Connacht were rocked when they conceded an intercept try to Steve McMahon. The Rockwell centre gathered 60m out and was fast enough to go all the way.

Corcoran gave Connacht hope again with a 59th minute penalty but Lyons responded with another successful kick three minutes later and Munster held out for the win.

Munster take on Leinster at Thomond Park on Wednesday (3pm) for what looks a winner-take-all clash following their 10-try 68-5 victory over Ulster at Donnybrook yesterday.
