Munster A schools lost to Leinster in Musgrave today 22-13.
Munster were better their Leinster outwide but lost out upfront but Munster were missing 1 or 2 of their stronger forwards.
Munster didnt play the conditions well enough and if they're a bit smarter next wednesday in donnybrook and the missing players are back Munster may overturn the 9 point deficit and win the joe weafer trophy
Game was excellant standard and hopefully next weeks game is even better.
Match report is below. one mistake in article. the other winger got the try not carey

I was out in Ashbourne at the U19 game Munster lost 23 -19. Conceding two bad tries from intercepts our handling was poor with multiple knock on's
Positives were the scrum , general forward play, Scored three great tries, individual players allot of talent in the team. Lineout was a lottery .

I have been following this thread with interest all summer. A sincere thank you to all who have been keeping us up to date on the latest interpro news. Is it true that Connaught won the U19 with a few players who were not seen as good enough by the Munster management. Not even good enough for the standby list if memory serves me right.

Im not sure if they were not seen as good enough by munster. They got their shot with connacht and munster will have seen them play interpros this season so they may get involved with munster at 20s level next season.
    The youths beat Ulster 34-12
Going to rockwell hasnt changed much in terms of results in the interpros.
    20s interpros: 1/3
    19s interpros: 1/3
    18s schools: 1/3
    18s youths: 1/3 with 1 to play
    A schools: 1/2 with 1 to play

Only 1 u19 team this year. Move to Rockwell for Summer. Did we make progress?

IMO no we didnt make progress. We havent beaten Leinster in an interpro at any age group this season though we have 2 more chances this week and as Leinster are the benchmark to not have beaten them yet is v disapointting.
Dont think the move to rockwell has improved things but things like looking at improving coaching in schools/clubs etc needs to be looked at so players are better before they get to provincial level
A full analysis cant really be made until the irish squads are picked for their training camps next month and can be compared - both to number of munster players in irish squads in previous years and to the numbers from other provinces to make this seasons irish squads

The Rockwell camp is more geared towards long term player development IMO. The players will have learned alot from it and now have a greater knowledge of whats expected of them. I think we'll have to wait until next year to see results because if the players need time to catch up with their Leinster, Ulster and Connacht counterparts in terms of conditioning and fitness etc.

If its working you'll have to ask the individual players, wait until next years interpros and wait to see how many Munster players make the 2013/14 Ireland U20 squad.

A schools beat Leinster in donnybrook today 20-18 but Leinster won on aggregate
Munster went 18-3 down early in 2nd half after Leinster scored a try that should have been disallowed due to crossing.
Munster went up and dominated rest of game. Munsters James Reeves scored a try off a lineout maul to go 18-8 down and then munster recieved kick off the backs threw 3 15metre passes and got another try.
Great game and it was Munsters first win against Leinster in any age grade interpro this season

Doing a little exercise on the Leinster schools system and Munster schools will show that basing our model of youth rugby almost solely on the schools is a recipe for disaster especially when we don't see these guys progressing to AIL due to this ridiculous system and also the academy system.
We attempt to mimic Leinster who have 16 + teams playing Senior cup rugby albeit 2 or 3 who are making up numbers-we have effectively 8 if you include Glenstal. Of these 8, the only ones that consistently are competitive are Rockwell, Pres,Christians, Munchins and Crescent. Ard Scoil blow hot and cold (will be good this year) and Castletroy are on a downward spiral. Glenstal are improving and are more and more competitive but still aren't there yet. So effectively you have 5 consistent senior cup teams.
Now when you also consider that at least 15 of the 16 Leinster teams are fee paying private schools with bags of resources being poured in, and 3 of the 5 Munster teams are fee paying, how in all honesty can we ever compete with a focus just on schools. .Yes clubs brought some talent through but what are we missing with this approach. Some very talented club players have made it-Jack O'D, Cronan Gleeson , Madigan but the is miniscule compared to what should be coming through. The proof of the pudding was in the opening game at the Aviva where Munster/Connacht were hosed by Leinster /Ulster by over 60 points with Academy/u20 teams. For God's sake, when are they going to sit up and smell what they've beenn stirring. Connacht have caught up with us -some of this down to the fact that they have no schools cup tying and players can play for who they please. Even worse with the poaching that is going on now in Munster schools, they are making the pool of players playing senior cup even smaller. Certain schools are decimating others and clubs also only to fill their benches. As I've said before, in the branch and in the coaching set up, people are asleep at the wheel. We are progressively worsening(can you say that) and the people in charge think all is fine.

I know we sent a lot of lads of to Rockwell for the summer but looking at 18s yesterday, they were never going to catch up with Leinster just in the summer. these guys in Leinster have been doing what we did in Rockwell for almost 2 years. Our schools don't have the numbers or resources to compete with whats going on in Dublin, but if we tap the club system and truely work with it. Then We might have some chance of closing the gap.

    Rant Over!!
Are the Munster Branch not trying to lessen the schools power and thus the focus on them with their new rules?? Rules that the schools are challenging in the Courts

Think it's to do with the branch trying to bring in a rule that would prevent a player who changes school from playing in junior or senior in the first season of the move. Pretty sure I posted an article on it. just cannot remember what thread.

Did a quick search on Courts.ie. The Munster Branch are not showing up as defendants or respondents to any High Court action in the last two years. If it were in the Circuit, it'd already be listed, set down and in the callover lists (which it's not, certainly not in the Cork Circuit). If it's even being talked about, it seems to have gone no further.
