    Stringer Joins Newcastle on Loan

Peter Stringer will move to Newcastle Falcons on a loan basis once his tenure in Saracens is over.
That will be in early March and it's expected he will be available for selection for the Falcons for their home game against Harlequins on March 12th. The Irish international scrumhalf has been on loan from Munster to Saracens since December providing cover to the Premiership champions following serious injuries to Neil de Kock and Richard Wigglesworth.
Mark McCall, Saracens Director of Rugby, said: "Peter has been a brilliant addition to the squad, on and off the field, and we are sorry his three-month loan spell will come to an end after our match against Northampton on March 4th."
Stringer will remain with the North East club until the end of the current season before returning to Munster.

I hope his club after that is in the south of France so he can get a few weeks of playing in the sun! He'll be selling crow-pots and dodgy gates next!

Did you read McCall's comments? Or these: http://examiner.ie/sport/rugby/mccal...ns-181118.html http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...o-hit-the-road

However, the crucial bit confirmed is: Stringer's coming back to Munster next season. As we said he would.

Clearly, McGahan wanted to deny him to Saracens in case he should end up playing against us in the HC. He still didn't want him.

You need to move on, Stringer lost his place several years ago.

Crunch HEC game, we're a point up, Murray goes down injured with fifteen to go. Who do you want coming off the bench to replace him, Duncan Williams or Peter Stringer?

Because until you can answer, unequivocally, "Duncan Williams" - we need Stringer.

That sort of thinking is what's kept players involved past their sell by date. No doubt last season you would have Stringer ahead of Murray too. Times change, players age, Munster no longer need Stringer. He's a legend, will always be one of the greats but time to draw a line under his time here, imo. Williams is in his mid 20's now, if he isn't good enough by now then we should ship him on too. Personally, I think Williams is good enough anyhow.

Yep, stringer fires out one of his high speed passes, hits Manning in the head and Manning falls down concussed.
When things go wrong, blame McGahan

If you're good enough, you're old enough, true; that's why I agreed with Murray leap-frogging both Stringer and TOL.

But the flip-side is that if you're good enough, you're young enough; which is why if an older player is better than a younger one, you start the younger one. Only when they're equal is age a tie-breaker. And I would agree that Williams should be better by now than he is.

Hmm. Could be a sweaty run in at Adams Park now.

Newcastle were dead a buried not long ago, but beating LI at the weekend was huge for them with Wasps losing in Leicester. Wasps have now lost to Tigers away, Worcester at home (ouch), Glaws away, Quins at home, Irish away, Saints at home since their last win - at Worcester last October.

Falcons have been pretty manky, but in the last couple of months got a draw out of Worcester at home (less ouch), beat Glaws at home, and beat LI at home last weekend.

Fairly even run in now, with Newcastle 6 points behind Wasps.

Gopperth is a handy enough fly half, and could link well with Strings. A decent result or two could tee up a big day at Adams Park on May 5th - Falcons travel to Wasps on what is the last weekend of the regular season.

Stringer to relegate Wasps at Adams Park? That would be a story and a half.

Great purchase for them!!! Hoping they will beat Wasps in the AP and thus condemn 'the brand' to championship rugby next season, it couldn't happen to a nicer man. Gwan Strings!!!!!!!

Not, thats not clear. Stringer is behind Murray and O'Leary here, and Spencer and de Kock in Saracens. He's presumably not 3rd choice at the Falcons, so the move is probably in his best interests if he wants game time.

Sweet divine, if Stringer crashed his car I'd almost expect to see you here accusing McGahan of tampering with the brakes

No point in Stringer coming back here for the rest of the season. He's cup tied for the HEC and we need to see who out of the likes of Sherdian and Williams is able to step up especially if TOL is to leave at the end of the season.
