Brumbies to beat Sharks. Crusaders to beat Bulls.

Stormers to beat Crusaders. Chiefs to beat Brumbies (is that definitely the order of play?)

Stormers to beat Chiefs in final

You´re not far wrong there... thats the curse of the Super 14... through massive distances and time zones, it usually is the home team that wins.....
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Either way I think the final will be in SA thsi year. If Chiefs finish top I think it will be a Stormers v Crusaders final.

Crusaders are one of the few teams that can buck the home team winning trend......

Brumbies Irish-born prop Ruaidhri Murphy is on a campaign to prove that he is eligible to play for the Wallabies.

    disappointing for us.

  8. #277
Murphy admitted, however, that he would consider playing for Ireland if they show an interest in his services before he becomes officially eligible to play for Australia in May 2014.
"If Ireland were to come knocking at a senior level, it would be something that would be hard not to look at," he revealed.

He was not deemed good enough to get a contract at Leinster after the academy,I wouldn't get too excited.Good luck to him all the same.

Australians not overly excited either ,other than the fact he is a prop.

As I've said in most places about Murphy. Right now he's nowhere near good enough for either Irish of Wallabies squads. He's only young for a prop at 24 though (same as Killer) so hopefully he's improve. He'll be seen in gold before green though

Canes were 4 points down, they just battered their way up from 15m in their own half to score a try in the last minute, TMO decision, try time, 28-25. Canes secure the win and keep themselves in the hunt. Chiefs defended poorly in the last few minutes, Cruden was gifted a try from a poor decision from Barret, I dont think they will win the round robin, Stormers this year I think

Interesting day ahead tomorrow. 8 teams looking to fell the 6 spots. Here's my guesswork

    Brumbies 58 v Blues (h) = 62
    Reds 53 v Waratahs (h) = 57
    Chiefs 64
    Hurricanes 57
    Crusaders 56 v Force (h) = 61
    Stormers 62 v Rebels (h) = 66
    Bulls 54 v Lions (h) = 59
    Sharks 54 v Cheetahs = 58

    Quarter Finals
    Crusaders (Ranked 4) v Bulls (5)
    Brumbies (3) v Sharks (6)

    Semi-Finals
    Stormers (1) v Brumbies/Sharks
    Chiefs (2) v Crusaders/Bulls

Tough one to call. I think the Stormers will win it. Their defence is top notch. (which it has to be, given that they've scored less tries than any other team in the competition). You would have to back them to reach the final, where they will be playing a team that has just travelled a million miles.

Nice to see someone agreeing with me for a change Stormers getting home advantage all the way to the final is crucial now. It's tough to win away in SA.

Brumbies defeat to the Blues leaves them in trouble. A bonus point win for the Reds will knock them out. Even if the Reds don't win, they could slip down as far as 6th seeds despite winning their conference, which could give them a quarter final away to the Crusaders.

2 tries now 12-3 now after 24 mins, 2 more tries required. Waratahs just had a yellow card before reds got their try.

Try bonus secured. Now the Reds just have to hold on to their 13 point lead for the last half an hour, and the Brumbies are out.

EDIT: Try for Will Genia - Reds are 29-11 ahead with 20 to play.

At the moment the Reds are on 58. Both the Bulls and the Sharks are on 54. Both Saffer teams need a try bonus to finish ahead of the Reds in the rankings (based on games won).

Was searching the net wrt the non-try when the ball was kicked out of the players hands as he was putting it down... general consensus is it would be a penalty try...

Yo speedee. Does that matter thoguh if they go ahead of the Reds? The Reds get to play 6th place anyway because they won the third best conference.

The ranking comes down to who plays in the semi's i suppose ( ie, the stormers will play the worst ranked of the QF winners, and the chiefs will play the higher ranked team). You'd wonder if the sharks and bulls would rather play the Stormers and not have to travel, and they probably would wouldnt they.

As far as the sharks and Bulls go, the absolute minimum the Sharks (69 points difference between PF and PA) need to do is win by 5 or 6 points- that takes them clear of the Brumbies better points difference of five points (74 points difference).
The Bulls have a points difference superior to both of them (86 points) which basically means that unless the Sharks score alot of points, the Bulls will be playing the Crusaders.

For anyone looking at it from a betting point of view, it would be very risky backing either team to beat the hadicap in the last two games, but particularly the Sharks- as they will want to play the Reds over the Crusaders, and the only thing a bonus point win does for them is get them a game at the Chiefs, should they win their QF v the Crusaders ( if the get a BP win)

    . Its a rich tapestry.

Perhaps the best is a small speculative punt on bulls and sharks 1-12 double

I agree. And I think the TMO was trying to make that point to Steve Walsh when he said the ball was kicked out of Waratahs players' hands in the act of scoring a try. Walsh completely missed the point and just asked the TMO to confirm which side had taken the ball over the line.
