Kidney among those chasing Lions job

If Kidney had to give up his coaching position for the 2013 Six Nations would he have a job to come back to. If not, why would he take this position??

I'm sure Cooder would keep his seat in Lansdowne Road warm for him.

McGeechan will have input in the selection process. Reckon the position is Gatland's to loose. Think he already has a clause written into his Welsh contract to allow him to be available if selected.

Fatland has first refusal I would have thought. Hes a shoe in after the RWC. I would also suggest that Kidneys poor mouth media approach wouldn't sit well with the rose contingent going up against the uber confident Aussies. 'Shur we are here to enjoy ourselves and isn't that great? Little old Lions all here enjoying ourselves'

If he was given free reign would he win the series? but I dunno how stern a test Australia are anymore, the NH sides have been closing in on them for a while now. The lions would be expected to win this one in my view.

'Chasing'? apart from the sensationalist, red-top-type headline, where does it indicate in the article, that DK is chasing anything?

I've never known DK to 'chase' - is this the best they can do?

RTE would want to cop on a bit - they're not a tabloid!

I'd agree with Cowboy on this one. McGeechan will have a big say and says his preferance would be with someone from his previous backroom team, which includes Gatland.

Why is Gatland a shoe in after the WC? Apart from ourselves who else of note did Wales beat?

At least Deccie led Ireland to a comfortable win over Australia. A team Gatland has lost twice to in the last two months alone.

Kidney is hardly going to say he has no interest in taking charge of the Lions. He's well aware that the media would love to have something to whinge about and make up their own reasons why he wouldn't be interested, especially the Irish ones.

Of course he probably is interested in the position anyway as it would probably suit a man like him. A set target to be reached with a smallish number of games with already proven top class international players.

Wonder how the IRFU would view him fecking off on them though for the 2013 6 Nations which is far more important to them than a British Lions tour.

Gatlands a shoe in for the same reason Warburton will be captain and it'll be a predominant Welsh setup. The whole tour is politics and the Welsh are seen as the perfect proxy-English while still technically being a Celtic Nation. Perfect PR for the sponsors who ultimately are the reason behind the tours existence. English are too dividing and the powers probably feel threatened by a foreign country having too powerful a stake in what is seen as a british team. It's also why they'll lose yet another tour.

And I'm sure sticking with the previous experience will be proven a double standard when Gatland is retained but POC isn't as captain.
