With a British & Irish Cup game on Saturday (Tralee RFC 1pm), players such as Donncha O' Callaghan on the recovering list and players such as Felix Jones, Ian Nagle, Luke O' Dea and Johne Murphy back in the mix, it makes sense for Penney to delay finalising his side for the round Two Heineken Cup game. O'Callaghan took a part in training in the wet conditions and afterwards declared himself, 'happy enough' but he will be required to do the same again on Friday before knowing whether or not he's to be involved on Sunday.
Ronan O'Gara is a definite non starter and while Penney refused to commit to a time for his return he did imtimate it would be a matter of weeks not months. The same applies to Keith Earls and Wian du Preez while it would appear that James Coughlan is making good progress after sustaining a groin injury against Ulster.

RTE News said tonight that Earls is due back in 2-3 weeks; Penney said that Paulie's progress will continue to be a "rollercoaster" while he rehabs and gets back to full fitness.

Felix Jones also came through unscathed after making his first appearance at this level since May and though Casey Laulala received attention several times in the early part of the game for a groin problem but played the full 80 and he is reported to be fit and well.
Ronan O'Gara spent the game in front of a TV monitor in the Munster dug-out, miced-up to give his input and he is not expected to be involved against Zebre on Friday but along with Keith Earls could see a return to action in early November.
Wian du Preez is looking at a similar timeframe while it's likely to be towards the end of November before Niall Ronan gets back.

Think he must be a talented lad, in spite of all the injuries, for the management to have stuck with him for so long. Jesus it would be great if he got fit and proved to be a quality player.

Only ever saw him with Munster A and he looked good but you'd have to fear for his career now.

Fair play to him for continuing to take the field with a broken hand. Goes a fair way towards explaining his recent lower than expected stats for passes made/received.
Article also mentions Jumpin Jesus Hanrahan will be given his first senior start. Aboy the kid!

Might explain why he got so little ball as well these last few weeks or was underused as most of us here felt he was. Hopefully JJ does well and maybe Dineen could be given a shot over the next few weeks to allow Downey recover.

Troy who just came back after doing his cruciate in his left knee,has apparently done his cruciate in his right knee from what I heard this morning,terrible news for the fella.

MR have tweeted this morn that as CJ arrives Troy Smith has decided to go home to NZ citing his injuries.

Sad to hear and good luck to him in his rehab and for the future.

Terrible for Smith, he was living in Ireland to play rugby so I guess once that ended home was the obvious choice. Obviously a very a talented player if Munster kept him on the books while injured for so long. A real shame we never got to see him at 12 for the first team. Best of luck.
