Felix is back but Wian and Keith are out (from Dead site)
Felix Jones will return to action at some level over the coming weekend.
Jones took a full part in training this morning at CIT and if he reports no ill-effects then he will return to action at the weekend. Not such good news for Keith Earls or Wian du Preez who have both been ruled out of the Heineken Cup game with Racing Metro.
Earls (groin) saw a specialist this afternoon and will be out for a number of weeks and du Preez who injured a knee in the game against Leinster, sees a specialist tomorrow when a timeframe on his absence can be better established.
Niall Ronan who was a late withdrawal from the squad for the Leinster game, did train today but didn't take a full part and is unlikely to be in consideration for the Racing game

Apart from the obvious loss of Earls, Wian is going to be a big loss against such a big pack. Oh dear

Lads call me crazy but this might be a blessing to us. I agree Wian is experienced but we can cope with that loss and Earls out forces Downey to 12 and that is what is best for us
Wian is a loss no doubt but Killer got stronger as he went on against Ross who is no back number in the scrummaging department. I think this will insure that Varley starts as I believe he is stronger at the scrum than Sherry (at the moment).
Marcus looked strong when he has played as well

If we can get everyone back fit in the times mentioned, then we could line out for middle two HEC games V Saracens as follows:
Felix, Dougie, Casey/Earls, Downey, Zebo, ROG/Keatley, Murray, WDP, Sherry, BJB, POC, DRyan, POM, Cawlin, Stander.

Well, what with BJ, WdP and CJ, it seemed like a good way to upskill my stalking.![]()

Keet is out for "a number" of weeks. He and WdP will miss the Racng game.
For the over the hill and the past-it, nothing is impossible.
Nagle and Felix Jones back off the list.

Leamy Limps Out Of Ulster Game
29 December 2011, 12:10 pm
By The Editor
Denis Leamy has been ruled out of contention for a place in the Munster squad for tomorrow's game with Ulster after aggravating and old injury (hip) in training.
He had been named along with Sean Scanlon (shoulder) in the extended squad announced for this game but withdrew from training in Cork on Wednesday. Like Scanlon the injuries will be re-assessed early next week but at this stage neither are ruled out of contention with the Benetton Treviso game in mind. Declan Cusack is another who has a shoulder injury keeping him sidelined just now bringing the number of walking wounded to eleven.
Good news however is that Peter O'Mahony (jaw) is expected back in time for the Treviso game,Mike Sherry (ankle) has resumed light training (jogging), Felix Jones (foot) is looking at a return sometime in late January/early February while Troy Smith (knee) and David Wallace (knee) are on schedule for a return in February.
Nothing can be confirmed about a return date for Jerry Flannery (calf) with Doug Howlett(achilles,6-8 months) gone for the season and Darragh Hurley (back injury) looking at up to four months out.
Just to reflect on the above - since that notice, Denis Leamy, David Wallace, Jerry Flannery, Darragh Hurley have all retired through injury, though optimistic noises were being made about most. Troy Smith and Sean Scanlon are out injured again. Felix Jones only just back this weekend, Hmmmm.

Scanlon and Jones injuries are different ones from the ones above, in Scanlons case it was actually a knock on his back that he picked up ages ago playing with Con which was aggravated and needed surgery this season. Jones was foot in that piece, he had shoulder reconstruction at the beginning of the summer. Troy Smith is one I would be worried about, 3 cruciate injuries in 18 months or so 2 on the same knee I dont know about this one. Anyone know which cruciate he has done this time??

O'Connell Comes Through Unscathed
15 October 2012, 3:40 pm
By The Editor
Paul O'Connell completed his first hour of rugby for Munster since May after lining out against Racing Metro on Saturday and reports no ill effects from the experience.
It means he will be expected to lend considerable support to Munster’s effort against Edinburgh in Thomond Park on Sunday, ko 12.45. The news of Ronan O’Gara (hamstring) is not so good after having a scan today and it is expected that he will not be fit to take part in the game at the weekend.
Donncha O’Callaghan is reported to be progressing well in his recovery from his hamstring strain he sustained in the Leinster game but will need to come through training this week before a decision can be made on his participation, and the same can be said for Niall Ronan (groin).
Further good news from the weekend matches is that Felix Jones took a full part in the British and Irish Cup victory over Plymouth Albion and could be in the mix for the Edinburgh game, as could Ian Nagle who also made a return to action in England on Saturday.
Two others who will come into Rob Penney’s consideration are Luke O’Dea and Johne Murphy, the latter travelled to Paris as back-up at the weekend while O’Dea has recovered from a bout of illness which forced him to miss out on any rugby.
The following injured players are continuing with their rehabilitation: James Coughlan (groin), Ivan Dineen (groin), Keith Earls (groin), Sean Scanlon (back).
It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into.
Every plan I have is the best plan in the room. Everybody get quiet and listen to it, and everybody will win
How bad is Cawlin's groin does anyone know? He's been out a bit now and I thought I read on another thread that there are doubts over the 3rd and 4th HEC games. Anyone any inside scoop?
