Seems like we're getting some good news for a change:
Conor Murray required stitches to a cut above his eye but shortly after he returned it was thought to be in his best interests to replace him with Peter Stringer. Stringer finished the game but suffered a calf injury and his progress will be monitored though the expectation is that both will be fit for consideration. The same applies to Marcus Horan who sustained a facial cut playing for Shannon.
Paul O'Connell (back), Johne Murphy (knee) and Luke O'Dea (ankle) are all expected to take a full part in training this week while Ian Nagle (shoulder) did likewise last week but will be given a week or so before being made available for selection and Cathal Sheridan (hand) and Ivan Dineen (groin) are also looking at a return in the same timeframe.

I went to the signing in Easons on Saturday & the Bull was looking very relaxed & happy. The girl from Easons staff who was minding him said he was super efficient.. had a heap of the books already signed so all he had to do was add a dedication so he flew through the initial queue that was there. I was late arriving so there was no queue at all by then.

    Latest Injury Updates

I'm not sure how to read that injury update. Paulie, Johnne and Luke available this weekend?

I hope to god they're using better judgement then they have previously with him.

If he's not 100% fully fighting fit, leave him out or give him a bench cameo with YM. No bloody point in throwing him back in he deep-end too soon so he can get injured again and miss another enormous spell.

In other news, I'm interested to see how Johne might fit in with Penney's plan(if at all) and glad to see Dineen and Nagle close to game-time

Paulie did a weeks full training last week too, including scrummaging. As I said elsewhere he'll be back playing soon.

Trane, I did say 'a FEW words', did I not? Thanked everyone who took any part in his career - Bruff, Shannon, Munster, Ireland, and it was nice to see Declan Kidney there, with Briano Brien, Niallo, and folks from Cappamore.
Jaysus, Quinlan still looks in massive shape, lean and sharp.
All the men wanted their picture taken with JH and/or DK - all the women wanted their picture taken with Quinny.

Much as I would love to see POC at the Aviva on Saturday game against Metro much more important. So 10 or 20 minutes would be plenty before we unleash him on the poor Frenchies.

True, but the benefit of having POC on the bench is that it will but pressure on DOC to perform. His performance really fell away against the O's from where it was against Ulster.

More depressing news on the POC front. According to this morning's Indo he's not fit for this weekend with no date pencilled in for his return. Penney has given an obfuscating statement of Donald Rumsfeld like proportions. DOC and Ronan are also in a race against time.

What's almost as worrying is Penney's statement that the next 2 games don't define our season. Is he aware that if we lose both then we're effectively out of the HEC, which undoubtably does define our season.

Before the Os game I would have travelled to Paris in expectation; after Leinster I would have travelled in hope; now I travel with a mixture of fear.

Better news on DOC and others:

Donncha O'Callaghan, who was forced to retire (hamstring) in the course of the Leinster game, had a scan yesterday and indications are he will be in the squad for the Racing Metro game when it's announced later in the week.

Marcus Horan is also expected to be in contention for a place in the squad while a decision on Niall Ronan will be delayed until it is seen how he comes through training this week. Mike Sherry left the stadium on Saturday on crutches but merely as a precaution after he twisted an ankle but the positive news from the weekend was the return to action of Luke O'Dea who played with his club Shannon while Johne Murphy has returned to full fitness as has Felix Jones who will be back in action ahead of schedule in the coming weeks.
Munster face into a busy fortnight on two fronts with games in the Heineken Cup and British & Irish Cup. While Rob Penney takes his side to Paris, Ian Costello will be heading for the south of England and the opening game as defending champions against Plymouth Albion.
Costello will therefore, be very happy to have seen some of his core players involved in club League action last weekend. Danny Barnes and Christy Condon featured for Dolphin alongside Academy players Cian Bohane, James Cronin and Ireland U20 captain Niall Scannell.

Being cruel I reckon Horan is done at this stage. Handy backup for resting players but the best I've seen from him is parity or using his extensive bag of tricks and gamesmanship to get by. WDP is your best loosehead with Kilcoyne coming on leaps for the experience.

Will be brilliant to see Felix back, especially with the extra grunt options you've got in the backline. I really want to see what happens when he's running back a long clearance kick with Zebo, dougie and earls running lines off him. LOD's been damn impressive too.

Delighted to see LOD returning - this is a young lad I believe has genuine potential to be a great player - he has good pace and quick step and has shown decent confidence when playing with the Big Boys. Hopefully he's absorbing all the guidance Dougie can give such a young lad.

That looks like a collection of old quotes. That Penney quote about Paul O'Connell sounds very familiar. Until I see somewhere else that Penney said that this week, I'll take that with a pinch of salt (and an ounce of hope and prayer).

Exact same quote from Penney, so unless he's repeating himself, the Indo is rehashing old quotes.

I was not referring to indo article, (id go around for the day with a ****ty arse rather than use that rag),merely that the current situation with POC is sadly similar to the anticipated return of David Wallace.
