I'm upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S2 any day now. Should be a major improvement from the HTC Legend which I am currently using.
Here's an article comparing the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation - http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...laxy-s2-961874
Galaxy S2 FTW!

Both are top notch androids. HTC is thicker and heavier. Feels better built. S2 is marginally better in a few areas of performance.
Two excellent phones.
Girlfriend has the Galaxy S. Gave a lot of small problems, and as JCC says is certainly lighter. Had a HTC for a while myself before i lost it, was delighted with it in comparison.
Just got an HTC incredible s and I am seriously impressed with it.
On the internet, you can be anything you want. It always amazes me why so many people choose to be stupid.
I went for the HTC, the Samsung was going to cost me more and I don't like them!!

You can use Viber to call and text other people that have Viber installed on their phones, be they iphone or android based. It just uses data. Very handy if you have a wifi hotspot, as it costs you nothing.

Just got the HTC Sensation, which is half the weight of the Desire Z. Battery is still as bad, but then you can say that for all smartphones.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 should arrive today.
I've switched from a HTC Legend. I really liked the HTC, which I had for about a year, but the one I had slowed so much that you could hear the death rattles every time I tried to send a text or open an app. Good luck with your new phone.
I've a HTC and its da berries.
Battery life will improve in a few weeks/months. I'm getting one and a half days of heavy use or two days of moderate use.
Traded iphone for galaxy s2and am seriously impressed .very fast would not go near iphone again
Biggest difference is i get two days from battery while lucky to get 8hrs from iphone
Probably a dumb question but can you upgrade Android handsets to newer versions of Android as they are released? E.g. will you be able to upgrade the galaxy s2 to this new ice-cream sandwich thing?

I went for the HTC Sensation, basically it functions more like the Palm which I previously had. Bought a 32GB sandisk micro sdhc card £32 Amazon and 2 Anker1900mAh batteries + charger £17.99 Amazon- am set now for travelling Roll on November.

While mulling over desires, galaxys and iphone 4's recently, my work phone got upgraded to an iPhone so looking for something smaller for my personal phone and something with android.
Oh and I'm only looking at cheap ones too so my short list is the Samsung Galaxy Mini and the HTC Wildfire S. I believe both have or had Flash players issues (could only take flash lite?) and the mini resolution is maybe not as good but I'm not fussed unless its a considerable difference.... just reading that its only 256k colours?
If thats very poor there also the Galaxy Ace which also has a poorer screen than the better models but seems better than the mini (16M colours). It doesnt seem as common as the two above. I could always go large with the Samsung Wave, which seems powerful but an older model so may be dated very soon
Anyone have any experience with any of the above models? or can suggest a low cost alternative?
thanks

I got the missus the galaxy mini Rugger, Tis a great phone sizewise and software wise but you're spot on about the screen. Granted i have the Galaxy S but i do find the screen "pixely" at times. The camera is alright. quality is good from the pics(she's printed some of them and they look fine as a 6"x4") It does have big trouble in low light and a fixed focus which she finds fine, it only annoys me due to the galaxy s.
Then again, for the money, you can't really expect much more. Its a brilliantly priced phone. Oh and the battery life makes my phone look like a joke. Again probably down to the screen not needing as much juice.
I Reckon the Ace would be the way to go. its got a bit of everything being a good mid range phone. Check out www.gsmarena.com for any phones you are thinking of. They do great indepth reviews from sound quality to camera quality.
cheers flatpass, very useful info there
My old HTC Wildfire has now gone. I like the build quality of the HTC's - more solid than Samsung I think.
My options really come down to:
1/. HTC Desire S - free
or
2/. HTC Sensation/Samsung Galaxy SII both €149
I've read the reviews, but are the latest greatest smartphones worth spending an extra ton and a half for?
Phone arrived this morning - so far so good. The wifi hotspot thing is very handy if the bb goes down at home (which it does the odd time). I was paying €10 p/m to 3 for a dongle I hardly ever used. Next for the chop.......
As someone on another thread suggested - I went for the plastic/rubber two layer "case mate" on the SGS2. I've dropped it from 4.5' onto cement or tile 4 times. Twice accidentally and twice as a risky demonstration. Between the rubber and plastic and the "gorilla glass" the phone didn't blink let alone suffer injury. Shod like that there is absolutely no substance to the claims of weak build - it's moot.
The SGS2 rocks AFAIC. I've no experience with any other, but I've let Iphoners play with it and the general response is an affirmative surprised "Hmmm!"
