I think that today's memorial service was a natural enough change-over point alright.

OK - While using advanced search to find the relevent thread to put this in - my search for "site" in title yielded a page with 1-9 of 14, but with no button to see the other 5 results.

Anyhoo - this is a new one on me:

Also - you used to be able to click on the picture inserted into the composition box and choose a size. That no workie now either.

Just had a glitch while trying to post an edit to a reply - first of all, there was a vbulletin message telling me my answer was too short and to please enter at least one character. Cancelled that after a couple of attempts and refreshed the page, but this time clicking the edit button logged me out of the site. Even after logging back in and seeing the "Thank you for logging in" message, it then took me back to the home page where I was logged out once again. Clicking on Active other Topics took me back to the home page, ditto Active Rugby Topics, and finally when I clicked on Forum > Blabla I got back in, apparently now logged in.

Has the layout been changed lately, everytime I log on it seems to be set up differnently ...

Well...it's fairly apparent now that rogue hackers have actually taken control of the site unbeknownst to Kermie and crew. Anyone who has navigated this site has now been hacked and all of the data exchanges on your various devices are being monitored and collected. The end is nigh.

Are the blogs that were posted here stored anywhere? There's something I wouldn't mind getting that I wrote. If it's hassle then no worries.

What was the subject matter/content? I'll have a look & see if I can unearth it.

I believe the title was "Altizen Network." It was using the personal blogging feature. It was about a sci-fi world. It would have been posted within the first few weeks of the function.

Hmm, hasn't come up under any search for posts started by you, as posts or as articles, nor under multiple content types. Probably worth sending a PM to Oz or Kermit in case there's another way of trawling for it but I can't find it yet.

Can anything be done about adds that have noise associated with them...?

there are 2 that keep popping up for me, 1 is a ticking clock with a siren at the end of it, and the other is a kind of christmas jingling bells one...
    both annoying...

Would it be a positive initiative to limit all members daily posts? Maybe to 6 or 7 per day? Might encouarge newer and other members to express opinions without fear of being shouted down by the raging digits of heavy volume posters.

in theory its not a bad idea, but in practice it would be a nightmare to manage.

For instance, what happens on matchday when folks are posting updates on a match, especially when the match isn't on the telly. once they hit the 7 post limit - no more updates.

It's never been needed before, and would kill a lot of discussion stone dead. It would mean, basically, that no one coils participate in more than one thread.

There are other things we could do. i suspect it would do more to encourage new posters if we had a blanket ban on people posting in threads to say how pointless the threads are, for instance.

    Feedback to new site

For the record, that wash't meant to be particularly pointed. I'm just saying that I don't think post volume is an inhibitor to new posters - the fear of being shot down is a bigger block, and indifference a bigger one still.

If you have a problem with someone posting too much, there's an ignore button. And everyone has one.

You'd be limiting yourself with that suggestion!

JCC, your proposition has two big pros :

    1. you have a point saying that this forum can be intimidating for newcomers or even lighter posters who find trouble slotting in.
    2. This could increase quality; when you have a post credit you probably don't want to spend it babbling

    Cons :

    1. As BB underlines, a problem for match commentary
    2. Tecnical feasablility to verify
    3. (but not least that's a big one) it might take out some of the site stamina (fast and intantaneaous replies, etc.)

Other than that I think it is worth thinking about.

One idea might be to link post credit per day to reputation...

Sorry man, but I would whloeheartedly be against this idea. It has far more cons than pros. It would kill off the site completely and that would be that.

I can see how you mean "without fear of being shouted down by the raging digits of heavy volume posters", and as Oz points out, it would encourage more quality, but the fun in the site would evaporate.

The random newsbits, friday funnies, match commentaries, would instaneaously disappear... although so would my little laugh at Balla´s comment..!

Even if you tried to limit it to posts per thread not sure that is feasible either....
We will just have to trust that the site encourages posters to post, can be more self regulating and new posters have a little cojones about them....

Having trouble insert Youtube videos, sometimes nothing happens when clicking OK after pasting in the link.

Seems to happen when you've entered text already, ie. link worked on this post before i typed anything, put in text and it doesn't

This might be greedy now and I dont know how much work is involved in setting it up but I'll suggest it anyway. You see at the bottom of every thread theres a link to the previous thread and a link to the next thread, is there any chance we could put a link to the 'whats new' page in the centre between them? as I say its merely a suggestion

Great idea if it can be done - also a link to 'New Posts' would similarily be very much appreciated if it's possible without too much work

Yeah but find it too 'dizzy' for my little brain (and it doesn't format very well on my work laptop using Internet Explorer) - I prefer the New Posts button as I can open the threads I want immediately. At present I have to scroll back up to the top of the page so it is only for reasons of laziness that I asked for one at the bottom of teh page
