Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?
Editor - The writer stands by the Penney information.

    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.

It's a mixture of what the site allows to be advertised, content generated on the site, and any info google ad sense can glean from your browsing history.

Eg I was on superfi.co.uk yesterday and they are hammering every site I go to today.

Not sure what sites you were on ...

Really? So I can trash someone's post anonymously? (Unless they go asking for info.) That's a bit nefarious isn't it?

As you can guess, I've been bad-repped today - surely if someone wants to bad-rep you, their name should be attached? I've no issue with bad-repping - but anonymity has long been the refuge of cowards.

I agree that if one is going to disagree with another poster, there's not much point in doing so anonymously - especially when the vast majority of us on here use pseudonyms anyway.

Just as a general question though, I have to ask is the reputation points thingy all that important/significant anyway? Some folk seem to place a fair degree of value on it, but it's only been a feature of the site since the upgrade last year, and I think we got on alright without it before.

    True Chippy.

It's probably only an issue when some tool bad reps you for a reasonable post. And that's the issue with it .. you can be bad rep'ed for posting something innocuous.

I got hit by friendly fire last week! I think it's a good system in that WUM's can be highlighted pretty quickly, the little red nipple tells everyone what to expect.

I get red repped every now and again.

I like it as it keeps me on my toes. I have fun trying to guess who did it too and then red repping them back for ****s and giggles.

    What is your rep power?
In the settings where it shows who you have repped it gives a rep power rating.

Mine says 5 just wondering what others shows as? Does that mean if I bad repped someone it's like minus 5 off their points?

It still gives a an interesting indication of how popular a member is and/or how good the quality of his posts are.

Even if you get a few undeserved negative reps, if you are good, it will be drowned into the mass of positive rep points. I'd get rid of the number of posts before I'd get rid of that.

  21. #707
It does indicate how popular a member is, but could also be misleading in terms of confusing popularity with quality!

I've asked this before but got no response - what's the deal with SOPA and posting full articles? Is that dead in the water and we're back to 'as you were'?

Is it possible that if you suspect someone has bad repped you, you ignore them and the bad rep will disappear?

Yes it is. I've red repped you. Please don't ignore me.
We'll have to uncuff him and "de-dildo" him, obviously... Smash up the furniture like he was chasing you all rapey. Fortunately, he's Italian so that shouldn't be too hard to sell.

No answer? How does rep power accrue or decline? What effect does it have for others?

Also I just need about 6-7 more thanks to get my target of one more little emerald jewel....preeeeciousss....then I can go dormant for a while ;-)

AFAIK the more of those little emerald jewels you have, the more "weight" it adds to any repping you give - no idea about the specifics of how it works or how rep power ratings are calculated, sorry. But have some thanks to help you get to the next level, anyway - this doesn't mean you have to go dormant when you get there though!

Cheers SRG, was just curious, some people seem to be only posting half articles and others including mods are posting full articles for a while now. I'd imagine at this stage SOPA is dead in the water - and rightly so. Pain in the arse opening the extra webpages too to finish off an article.

It's still a bitup in the air. We are paying attention to what Boards are up to (as they have waaaay more traffic, etc.) and just following their lead. At the moment, I suppose, it's best to be circumspect and continue to at least post a link and truncate the article a bit... The usual I suppose - we'll be ok until we're not!!!

Sorry this is so wishy-washy... We're not legal eagles so our interpretation could be well off...

Most of my searches result in "phrase not found" or I get shunted to the "Active other Topics" result...

Today, for example I wanted to put something into the thread that deals with the Oil finds off Ireland... I searched for Providence and also for Barryroe, no result.. or the result I do get.... it showed only 3 out of the 5 results, so maybe the result was there, but it wouldn´t show all the results.... it´s odd, no..??

anyone else having a problem with the search function..??

Also, can the thread that deals with the oil finds off ireland.. not sure is it the corrib thread or the oil price thread, maybe we could give it a more descriptive name..?
